Hi Shiv, Was just reading about an ECUTeck failed flash. If a flash failed using OFT ie car battery low or for some reason you unplugged cable or something silly causing flash to fail. could you just write over failed/partial flash it or is it likely to cause more dramatic issue ?? assuming you were using OFT trying to write over a non locked tune ie an OFT/rom Raider/Tactrix/ecuflash created tune. |

So their is no chance of trashing boot loaders or anything, your only writing to the flash ram section of the ECU.

You can theoretically brick your ECU by writing a corrupt file (i.e., by editing areas of the ROM that contacts boot data, not mapping data.) It takes work to do that however.

Being .bin files you would be surprised. My computer opens them natively in notepad and I could really mess things up if I screwed around. You would be surprised how long it takes to open one file though that way.

sounds like it would be worth removing the file association ".bin" from notepad

Cali has the worst gas in the lower 48...acn(Arizona California Nevada)
As far as I know you could add in a little more timing but from what I've read it won't make a huge difference without a good tuner and a dyno to notice where you can add. (could be wrong) Any chance of releasing a version two EL header tune for JDL and nameless? I don't mind paying for the e-tune but I can't really get cam settings dailed in that way.

Any "tuning" done without a dynamometer is a shot in the dark. All we can do right now is tune for anti-knock and AFR with the logging capabilities we currently have.
On a side note, I've noticed some buggyness with the latest OFT update. With the OFT plugged in at start up I've gotten warning lights in the dash come on several times. Namely the ABS the traction control and today the airbag light. It goes away upon shutting off the car then restarting. This never happened before the update. Anyone else get this? |
