2014 will be their 4th year as a region and this is the first year they have gotten a date at Barber. They had to work hard to get that early Feb date as well. If it is the big success that they think it will be, they are hoping to get more dates in future years and possibly host the East Coast Championships there as well.

It went real well. There were at least 3 maybe 4 other twins there. One was in my run group, but I did not see much of him on track. One was an instructor and I think there was another car being shared in DE3 and DE2. Rumors are already out there about it being a monster in TTD and breaking track records with just tires (this was coming from a friend of a friend who races TT3). The track was a lot of fun. I don't know if I like it or AMP better at this point. It is a very intimidating track with turn 12, but I got over that pretty quickly. What I did not get over was seeing car after car getting totaled or damaged. I saw a C6 Z06 and Porsche get totaled for sure and a few other cars have major damage. It is not forgiving if you go off track. Luckily in our run group there were only a few off tracks and they had no damage.

I could break a lot later into turn 10a. That will be what I will work on next time I am there. Also running the rain on Sunday was good practice at being smooth. For that day I left the traction control on in sport mode. I only had it kick in a few times and hit ABS noticeably twice. All in all it was a great weekend, but I got sick Monday after being in the cold wet rain on Sunday.

You'd be surprised at how late you can brake into T10A. My 01 Z06 saw speeds touching 150 mph prior to braking. T12 is not my strong point. Video below from Aug 11.

So, I figured we could start a thread on upcoming track days that are open for people to join (HPDEs and such) in the southeast. We can have a nice central location for all the info, as now its kind of scattered.

If you know of any coming up, post them up.

I've seen two locally.

NASA SE is doing one @ Road Atlanta, March 8-10.

Chin Motorsports is doing one @ Road Atlanta, March March 18.

Though in both of those cases you need to be a member of those respectives orgs, I believe.

Thoughts?

I see 3 BRZ's registered for the THSCC VIR North course event in April. One is mine, are the other drivers reading this? All of us are in Blue Group, should be fun!
