That's just stunning.

I'd love to hear it with some basic cat back systems....ok, honestly I'd love to just hear it with my setup, but I don't think many people here run a Greddy SP with a catless front pipe

Hey, I've been following your work for a bit now and it seems really impressive looks wise and by the sounds of it performs well. So I have few of questions regarding your EL catted header.

1) will this clear the stock skid plate?
2) what's the typical life expectancy of the ceramic coating?
3) what's the difference between the black and titanium coating?
4) will using the EL catted header require a tune?

Thanks

@JDLAutoDesign what is the difference between the coating options? Chrome is an upcharge, is this for the finish or does it perform better.

Is the coating for longevity and engine bay temps only or will someone be able to notice a bump in power?

Thanks...

No performance advantage with the chrome. There is just an additional process after coating to give it the shiny finish thus the extra price.

That has always been an on going debate...Personally i don't think you will notice any bump in power. I would only sell it to people based on the benefits of heat management in the engine bay or personal preference based on looks.

1) Yes it will. It was just off for pictures
2) We have had turbo manifolds going for a few years now without flaking. They get hotter than these header i'm sure. Unfortunately the headers are relatively new so its still up in the air.
3) I believe they are rated for the same temp but i will double check in the morning. Basically what color do you like better pretty much.
4) Too early to tell. Its the same high flow cat others are using that claim a tune isn't needed and no CEL. I'd rather avoid making that claim just yet. As always a tune is going to maximize the gains regardless.

Thanks
Jesse

Have you ever had a chance to measure any surface temp differences between the regular coating and chrome finish?

Over time, does either discolor more than the other?

I haven't had a chance to.

The Chrome does dull a bit over time, still looks good just becomes more of a shiny silver. The Black stays satiny. I actually think the Titanium looks better over time. New it looks like a bronzish/silver but once heat cycled the metalic really stands out and has a goldish hue.

Actually... A local with an innovate supercharger has a greddy SP muffler, stock rear pipe, stock front & overpipe, but is installing the EL header this weekend... It should give you 'some' idea of what it sounds like.

I'll tell you right now the car in the video above it sounds pretty close to stock just amplified in volume slightly.

Time will tell on this one. I however did do a 100% OEM pull on the dyno with the car in the video above. I hard set the IAM to 1.0 and the cam profiles to the higher powered baseline (not all people do this for baseline dynos so they semi "cheat"). I did this so I can find out if the car will provide any HP gain without any tune at all. A header wont skew your AFR trims in the manner that swapping your intake in does. Do it wont happen like an injen intake where the first dyno pull you make 10WHP and then every dyno pull after you slowly make less as the car "auto tunes" back to its normal condition. The goal is to also get the catted one on the dyno as well and hopefully do the exact same dyno.

And as for CEL etc. To be honest I forgot to adjust colton's tune before he left to install the header. I did not disable the DTC for the rear o2 or anything and I met up with him late last night to verify the car was running okay (log wise) and make an adjustment to AF trim's based off rear o2 just incase it was going to throw a DTC. Though it may take a longer period of time before the DTC comes up. I would however strongly recommend having a tune and setting the rear o2 AF trims off as I have not tested how much it can skew a tune. But if the non catted didn't throw a DTC after a days worth of driving I am willing to bet the catted likely wont throw a DTC. But as stated before, time will tell!
