yeah, it's all covered by insurance. Belair has mandatory lease protection for $50/year. Only shitty thing is, is that I lose out on my 6 months of payments T_T she was still a baby

The insurance company told me they will accept DV Claims but I have to show evidence.. (Time to find a DV Claim Appraiser)
But they also said.. If the body shops completes satisfactory repairs, there should not be any DV.

-shake my head- Satisfactory. No one will pay for the same for a car that got in to a accident.

Thanks for the really informative post.

Remember that insurance isn't to buy you a brand new car, because your car wasn't a brand new one.

That said, it sounds like either they low-balled you on the fair market value, or else you overpaid for your car in the first place... I can see a three week old car being worth even a couple of thousand less than a brand new one, but $7k? Whoah.

The car can be repaired all it wants, but if a potential buyer looks at a carfax, they would turn away, most of the time, from a car that had that much $ put into repairs.
Hoping for the best for you. Wasn't your fault, sorry this is happening.

I would say it sounds like he overpaid in the first place - I can't see a 160 mile FR-S being worth 33k (even with taxes, fees, etc) - you can get a brand new BRZ ltd for a lot less than that. The situation still sucks though...

33k could be $CDN Cash in with tax is roughly that price in Ontario, 26999 + $1500 for fees then HST (harmonized sales tax) which is 13%

What's over paid??? My car out the door with all the options marked, TTL, extended warranty and the alarm was 32,500$ it would've been 32,500 no matter who got it.. The price may not be worth it in some people's eyes, but I wanted my car to have all the options I wanted.. Therefore I had to pay.. Scion pure price thing shows all the cars the same until you get the options. The mats, bespoke, wheel locks, clear hood bra fender bar and bumper bra, alarm, auto transmission, extended warranty all add up quick.. Now if this guy paid 33 for a bone sock car that lists at 25k then yeah.. But if every option is there that's the price

My car WAS a brand new one. A 2013 model that had only 160 miles on it. The FMV of the car was about $26k, which I found out to be just a little bit higher than what the going rate was ($23-$25k).

Being that they could only cover me for the FMV, I ended up losing my down payment, which was $7k ($33k out the door price, $7k downpayment, $26 financed). Not something they could reimburse. But I did manage to refund $3250 of that $7k from extended maintenance and warranty, so all I'm out is about $3750, which are taxes and fees (which I'm still fighting to get back).

This. I had quite a few options on the car, including extended maintenance and warranty. It was $33k out the door. The car started at $26k before all the options were added. The car was definitely not bone stock.

Could probably have just started a new thread with the pics but since it is resurrected now might as well run with it!
That really does look the same and I always get a chuckle out of this similarity:
