Specialty car insurance for the frs/brz?
Does anybody know of any specialty car insurance places? I'd really like to retire my FRS to summer car duties and keep it clean and nice for years to come. Planning to get something for DD duties
Called my classic car provider which I insure my mr2 under and they pretty much said NO! Just wondering if anybody can give me a lead. Or if any specialty insurers actually exist at all. Thanks.

I'm assuming you just want to lower the cost of insurance for your car. If so, tell your insurance company you only want comprehensive and no liability. Let your lien holder know that you're parking the car (assuming you have a lien on your vehicle). It's $10/month to park my BRZ during the winter.

Yes, that's pretty much what Lant/Haggerty told me to try. I'm insured with TD Meloche Monnex for my regular cars, gave them a call and they told me to call Lant lol. Running me in circles here. I'll try again and this time push for a quote with just comprehensive and see how it goes. Just wondering if there are specialty places though. Sorta like with Lant but not being a classic.

By retiring to summer car duties do you mean daily driving in the summer, or only driving it a limited number of km's on warm dry days?
If you have another daily driver and are willing to show proof of limited usage in the summer only you can probably get it insured for really cheap. If you plan to drive it daily then you'll really only get savings by pulling most of the coverage in the winter months when it's parked.

yeah you should specify exactly what sort of usage you're planning on
parking a vehicle and getting comprehensive for it should be something any regular insurance can do. if you want low insurance but still be able to drive it "whenever you feel like it," then that's a whole different area.

My twin is basically covered for fire and theft during the winter. The policy for drivingg kicks in when I call my agent to notify them. IIt's almost like insuring 1 car car when they aren't driven at the same times.

I used to pull my M3 off the road for the winter, they kept fire and theft on it and the monthly rate went down to under $20.
Basically I just told them I was taking the car off the road for x number of months. If you have a car loan with a lien, you will need to provide your insurer with a release from that company. My bank was more than willing once I explained the situation and that I was still maintaining at least some coverage.
