I think Vortech has had the most problems with belts however that conversation doesnt belong in this thread.

Your question was valid though so thanks for asking it

LOL you got it... I just thought it was an interesting point as I have not yet come across something similar while reading/catching up about your FTES - thanks again for the info

Correct me if I am wrong, but the bonus I see in this kit is that even if the PhantomESC fails/dies/what-have you... it can still be used as an "inlet tube" without having to be stranded IF (big if) something were to go wrong vs. other options....

and I think that is a very nice perk to have

another random question. I am not sure about warranty, but if a component fails.. example: the motor were to burn out or if the compressor bearings start to wear out, (even years later) can these things be ordered and replaced or would a new ESC need to be ordered? would a new motor controller be available for individual sale if it died?

There is very little downside to this kit except extending that torque curve. And the green LED on the voltmeter. I'd take batteries over an intercooler and manifold anyday which allows me to control weight distribution better than other FI options. Best throttle response and no parasitic drag. It's the magic bullet people have been looking for everytime they've had to decide between turbo, screw or centrifuge. A few more refinements and tweaks to the design and you are really close to something special. It'll be cool to have something like this even before the big automakers come out with their versions. They are lagging hard even though most are working on these. No pun intended.

I've wondered if using a compressor wheel like Borg Warner's EFR fin design would help efficiency even further.

For those getting their units I would highly recommend installing the circuit that turns off the controller with the key. Otherwise you need to remember to turn if off every time you leave the car. The schematics are somewhere earlier in the thread.

+100

It's shocking how many times I have forgotten to turn off the controller despite having the bright LED shine in my plain sight. Definitely wire it in with switched ignition power.

are these what you are talking about? page 112 or is it pug's electronic engineering?
If this is what you used, then did you just buy a universal 12v cig lighter adapter and splice the wires and run to relay or did you splice off the factory wires? any pictures would be much appreciated.

I have the wolftech timed relay to auto shut my traction off on start up, and will be hooking it up to the cig lighter power in the center console as soon as i get some 16ga wire. guess I'll be doing the same to the one in the glove box.

Questions: any chance to obtain same juice level with smaller/ligter battery?

How this system can be in a track enviroment?

I mean the good thing about supercharged is the linear delivery of power but because ESC works only when at WOT (I believe).... well I don't know how good it would be on something that is not a straight line pull or exiting a corner.
Looks like you would have the same if not more problem of a strong turbo when it finish to spools up and deliver over9000 TQ all of a sudden.

I don't know if my words make any sense or If I explained myself correctly, hope so.

A DPDT relay, 12V/2-5 Amp, can be soldered in as shown.

The relay coil can be activated by a switched 12V (Best to find a switched 12v+ in the fuse box next to the controller.)

@Pug did something similar, but integrated it into his LCD screen.
@GaryNJ, no need for the heavy contactor

So is the best route to wire this to the cigarette lighter outlet in the glove box then? I saw a lot of discussion and different ideas around this topic.

Pretty much any circuit that turns on with the ignition.
I usually just snake a wire up to the back of the radio and tap into its switched lead. The relay is small enough that you can tuck it up back there and it is completely out of the way.

Stop kissing up.
It's an electric supercharger, so the generic term pretty much has to be "electrocharger".
Phantomcharger is Rob's specific product, just as the imitators (and you know they will come) will have their specific names.
