Unhappy Knocking doesn't sound good :-(.

I finally got myself into a used FR-S (one owner car). I picked it up in Nashville and drove 130 miles home Friday.

I've been driving it all day today, doing the normal errands with my wife in it really starting to get used to the car. Decide to head to town, get gas, and just enjoy a nice cruise and music. Stopped at Shell got my 93 octane, headed on back home stop light to stop light no issues. I get to my turn and get in the right hand turn lane and as I'm turning I notice a knocking / metal chatter like engine / transmission. No lights or warnings so I keep it slow, notice it isn't getting any better, before I could stop the engine shuts itself off.

Luckily I was close to home so I coasted all the way the rest of the way to my driveway, attempt to restart it only to get that knocking and stall shortly after.

I checked fuses, unhooked battery to let ECU reset, and started searching all I could and finally decided to post and ask for help. I went back out and figured I would take a video quickly to see if it might help see if others know what I'm looking at :-(.

[ame]http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=O-PkAZ_i34I[/ame]

Idled a bit longer then stalled itself and would not turn over on an attempt to crank later. I'm sick to my stomach and just down in the dumps, the enjoyment didn't last long.

Any thoughts, help greatly greatly appreciated!

Im listening on my phone so the audio isnt great but it sounds like its not firing right. Do you have a scan tool to check for codes? You can pick up a cheap one at autozone...maybe even rent one. Check all your fuses and everything under the hood. Look for disconnected wires/plugs. Check the oil too just in case.

No I wish I could go pick up a cheap auto-zone one. I checked a few fuses and they looked good, I can't really tell on the big ones of course visually. I did check oil and it's over 3/4 above the bottom dot so it's not low.

The drive home was probably 3-4 miles no issues, turn in for a sharp right turn and instant noise and issue.

Did you purchase it from the previous owner or a used car dealer? Powertrain warranty is 5 years 60,000 miles I believe but check the owners manual to make sure it is transferable between owners. It sounds like a loose rod bearing or rod knock to me but im no mechanic. Best have it towed to the nearest Scion dealer and have them look at it.

When crazy shit like this is going on and you have a warranty. Let the dealer do it the less you touch the better. Getting a code doesn't hurt but I wouldn't even reset the ECU.

IF it is serious and shits going wrong it isn't helping anything by starting it up over and over.

whitefrs - just got off the phone with road side assistance, will be here first thing 6:30am to take car to my local dealer here. Service opens at 7:30.

Darryljr11 - bought it used from a dealer, one owner car. Car has followed all service schedule checks ups with dealer in Nashville. I assume warranty transfers.

CajunFRS - Only cranked twice since, once after coasting into driveway to see if it would crank. Second time after unhooking battery for 15 and checking fuses, recorded the video that second time to post here. Haven't touched it since.
