Garage / mechanic recommendations

OK, so as I build the list of potential upgrades to the FRS, I figure I should sort out who's going to do the installs for me.

I'm pretty handy, but currently lack most of the required tools so by the time I get them all I might not be saving anything over having it done professionally.

So, looking for some recommendations for who to go to.

Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah, winter can end any time now, my car looks like ass.

That's a sweet deal for someone on those springs. Get the perfect stance and height with these, plus sooooo nice and balanced, really sorts out the FRS.

By the way, I'm moving to my new house at start of April, slightly bigger garage is a bonus.

So would be happy to host a tech day in the spring! Self-installs for the win! Save your labour $$ for more parts (until I open my own shop, lol).

As of right now I think the arms race has

1 Chad Suprcharged, tuned and a bunch of other stuff.
2 Pat Turbocharged unless he had to buy the second turbo
T3 Ken and Norm too many goodies to name.
4. Mike ( God knows what else he is doing right now besides painting and repainting the emblems.)
5 Kenny. some cool stuff well done on the paint. me like

PS. Norm is winning if we count the BMW he bought his wife.
Nope no new turbo just a rebuild with upgraded internals and lots of new goodies on the way 300whp here I come

I bring my tundra to "Pierre's auto care" He worked for Toyota for years before starting his own business. He's pretty fair and knows his shit. It's a couple doors down from macco off merivale. I would personally avoid Canadian tire like the plague unless you personally know the mechanic doing the work.

But yeah if possible do the work yourself come spring buy the tools with the labour you save and you will have them next time you need them! Worst that will happen is you will learn something.

That's the thing about CTC Carling. The Shop Manager and a few of the key mechanics are MCO members and racers. So if you go there, ask for Ralf and tell him you were referred by an MCO member (or that you are a member if so). He will hand off the work to only one or 2 guys and make sure it's done right. He knows that us car guys are very particular.

But you're right that normally, no one at Cdn Tire will touch my car.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I'm still on the fence about whether to tool up or not. I am keeping on eye on the flyers though.

I'm spoiled - my good friend at work is an MCO member/Instructor and he has a lift in his heated garage and all the tools I'd ever need

That said, he sends his own DD's to Ralph at CT Carling for stuff he doesn't have time or the inclination to do himself

Honestly, I did most of my work on my old Corolla either in my laneway or another friend's garage with jacks and stands - that included swapping out stock springs with Tein S-Tech's a few spring/fall sessions. In the later years I had access to the lift though

I have simple spring compression clamps if anyone wants to use them, worked well on the Rolla, a friend's Echo & MR-S and a Matrix over the years

And you can never have enough tools... just try to pick up good ones

I also spotted a black (salt-encrusted) FR-S in hubcapless black steelies at Woodroffe & Strandherd (it was heading west) around 6pm last night... probably @Pbrown?

Go easy on me at Karting tomorrow boys! I'll be a few laps down very quickly...
Any plans afterwards - I think we are kicked out by 1pm? Lunch somewhere after?

Yeah that was me. The car is more of a whiteout than Raven right now and believe it or not those are the stock rims hiding under all the salt. I would like to do lunch but I'll have to see how I feel. My cold has come back for round 2 apparently. Definitely looking forward to tomorrow though.

What a day!

Top karting season one was a great success. Thanks all for coming out. Very enjoyable day. Congratulations Kenny on being the inaugural winner of this hopefully annual event.

PS. On a side note, finishing 4th does not guarantee relations with you wife. Apparently I was more excited than she was!!!!!!!
guys and Pauline, see you all soon.
