this is really interesting, lol I am still on the fence about keeping the 86 stock, and getting a beginner bike, like the ninja 300 to learn to ride on and get my adrenaline fix that way

interested to hear the comparison (of the driving/riding feel) between a competent turbo 86 and a bike. Everyone says motorcycles are the ultimate in rider fun, and so can be said about driving in the 86.

With what little I know, the bike will blow away the car in terms of rider/driver feel & involvement. Just be aware that with a bike, there's nothing but your riding armor & helmet protecting you from the bike if you spill, and the idiots on the road if they don't see/pay attention/care about you. And they're driving heavy, approximately 1 ton or heavier vehicles.

I know of several older bikers who left riding (despite still loving it) because they couldn't justify the risks they were taking just by riding in light of having families.

If you want to start riding, then by all means do so. Just make sure you go into it fully aware of all the additional risk you're taking on.

Yep, that's me. My KZ1000J is in the barn, collecting dust.

I've found other ways to cut loose. This is what does it for me.

A true danger seeker here. Warning, NSFW.

There's always a bigger thrill, closer to death. I know a guy who para-sails and hang glides. There are base jumpers and free climbers. People who climb Everest too. The craziest ones, as far as I can tell, are the base jump wingsuit wearers. They seem to die on a regular basis.

Priceless.

Let the man do what he wants. His life. Maybe he wants to have the chance of dyeing so his FRS horror story will end.

He is not allowed to danger his life. Not until he drives his car once after everyone is trying to contribute in any way they can. After he drives it once then he is more than welcome to do whatever he wants.

I have a feeling @Frs300, when he gets his car back, might run some...certain people over. Although I don't think he wants to buff any bloody stains out of his paint lol

Being fully aware of the risks I would be taking on as a new rider, I would gladly sweat my walnuts out if that means: helmet, jacket, pants, gloves, and boots. And yes I would be that guy to buy a motorcycle stormtrooper riding outfit lol
