I could not believe how much of a difference those 2 lil MTEC springs made

Good job MTEC

What do they do? Serious question. How do they change the feel?

I like the existing stiff feel, but twice I've gotten stuck half way into gear thinking I was all the way in, and had a grind.

oh so its this is why i struggle getting into 2nd gear sometimes.......
my cars done 700kms and sometimes it so hard to get into 2nd, i have to sometimes 'ram' it in or go back to neutral and try again.

so changing the oil is a 100% fix? or 50/50?

Only if you use a different (i.e., better) aftermarket brand of tranny fluid. Pentosin worked for me. Other people have said Motul is good too.

Even using Pentosin is not a guarantee. I'm switched to Pentosin and still have issues with 2nd gear and I live in the SF Bay Area, not cold.

I'm fairly sure someone effed my 2nd gear synchro a little bit on a test drive. It never becomes completely easy to get into second like the other gears do, no matter what temp.

This is with the stock fluid, redline MTL, and now Motul Gear300. It's better, but not cured.

If its still causing issues, Id have gotten it replaced under warranty before trying to swap out all kinds of fluids. You should still be able to get it replaced under warranty, but expect resistance if they note you are using non-OEM fluids.

Switched the diff and trans to Motul and the trans is smooth like butter now!

2000 miles later on the factory fluid and all my gears are pretty "notchy", but not alarmingly so. It sometimes gets caught between gates when I'm downshifting from 5th to 4th at higher RPMs, but that might just be bad form on my part.

This may be a dumb question, but when I change out mine (hopefully tomorrow), I'm assuming I want to wipe off whatever gunk is stuck to the plugs?

Anyone else have problems with slight gear grinding when Downshifting from 2nd to 1st gear?

For example when rolling less than 5mi/hr to a stop sign or to make a right turn, and you want to put it in 1st gear to be able to roll off quickly. About half the time I get some grinding when trying to do this. Doesn't seem to matter if it's hot or cold. Double clutching doesn't always prevent it either.

I've owned 8 different sports cars with manuals, and have never experienced this issue on any of them. Just wondering if I'm the only one?

Yes, I pretty much have to be at a dead stop going from 2nd to 1st or it grinds.

Same here. Haven't swapped fluids yet. Motul is on it's way though. We shall see.
