Refueled 6 times for 930 miles??? I am going to go out on a limb and say these are partial fill ups. Otherwise, that is a rough break-in.... that poor engine

Yup. I fill up at half. It's just a habit. I was told to keep a half tank gas just in case a major earth quake hits I can still leave California.

Were you a sound producer in a death metal band?

Compared to the woodpecker that lived under my hood. Yeah this car is like driving in a library.

But yeah, it's not exactly like this is a big rummbly V8. It's not that loud.

some people's brand loyalty to gas companies blow my mind... look up the legal limits of ethanol and methanol in your state and then tell me why any giant oil company would use anything short of the legal limit. In California its basically capped at 91 octane and there is enough methanol in every pump to ensure that those crickets are coming back.... no matter how many fuel pumps you swap from toyota.

I just got my pump ordered on Jan 17th. From what I've heard it won't actually fix the issue, but just insulate it.

So that's three things Aussies get the best of: Women, beer and petrol.

Ethanol in the gas is causing the crickets. Just use non ethanol and problem solved

I've been wondering what "crickets" sounded like. Now I know, ouch hurts my ears.

I have an August 2012 car, 8500 miles, and I've never heard it. Using E10 all the way... Am I just lucky?

Ive got 22-23k miles on mine at the moment and i use a Premium 93oct fuel without ethanol. Anytime i use fuel that has an ethanol additive, the crickets come back. Its fixed my crickets and my local buddies crickets as well. the Pure 93oct fuel also adds a noticeable pep to the car and easily gives me 3-4 more mpgs at 75mph after running a good half tank of non-ethanol fuel through the car.
