Yes but if your "source wire" in his case being the DRL power will cause them to stay on unless a second set of diodes are placed in that source wire (which he did) to return the DRLs to a factory behavior. In others case including mine who didn't install that second set of diodes the DRLs stay on when the headlight HIDs turn on. You have two options with the DIY. One having the DRLs turn on all the time or have them turn off once the HIDs are on. The second set of Diodes determine this.

I just bought a 2014 and one click away from turning the headlights on turns both the DRLs and the horse shoe light on. Is that what you guys are trying to accomplish? Is it new to 2014s? I'm going to do this in order to keep the DRLs on when the headlights turn on

did this today! Amazing writeup! had to add another diode to make it look stock when headlights are on. Now the automatic mode on the stalk makes more sense. Good job OP!

Started this project tonight, but am going to have to finish tomorrow. I gotta say, this is way more difficult (and scary) than I thought it'd be. There's so little slack in any of the wires, I'm just afraid I'm not going to be able to get a nice clean solder, I've only done quick spot soldering so far. The main issue I have is that I got 12-gauge wire, per your instructions, and it's really thick compared to the stock wiring, so soldering them together is becoming a big pain....

I did it to my car last night while the bumper was off. It makes it WAYYYY easier when the bumper is off.

Finished it up today, wasn't able to check DRL though, sun was already going down and 'auto' just turned the headlights on. I did, however, see that the original DRL LED strips were still lit with the headlights on, so I guess it worked? I'll be able to check for sure tomorrow.
I finally was able to put enough solder on everything to get it all secure, doesn't look nearly as clean as yours, taping it up in that tight quarters was difficult and I wanted to make sure it was all covered. I noticed that the Diodes do not solder easily, I'd put a good solder on the wire and Diode, but the Diode would just slip in and out, had to really cover it and be careful handling. |

Used lead free electrical solder and flux for lead free solder. I'm not all that familiar with soldering specifics, so I obviously wouldn't have known, definitely my most challenging soldering job yet!
