This is similar to how a lot of v1 turbo kits from companies were using oem header. And at this point very few are doing this. If your considering turbo I recommend just buying a turbo kit. If you aren't sure it am sure resale of an UEL probably isn't too bad considering the popular desire for UEL noise and the horsepower gains shown in a number of third party tests.

JDL's twin scroll kit is the one turbo option I'm looking at. I just can't even come close to affording it right now, lol. Going for the 350whp goal. Hopefully twin scroll isn't too overkill.
Right now I just enjoy my JDL UEL and the power and sound it delivers. It's worth the wait guys, just do it and be patient! |

That's what I figured. I won't use a very large turbo. I guess with the right tuning I can have the lag reduced as much as possible. I don't mind a little spool time though. I just don't want a really high HP build since its a DD.

I'm spending as much money as I can for the absolute fastest spool possible and I'm not using a twin scroll. Hopefully that gives you some perspective. I had a number of friends who build turbo kits for a living say that at my turbo desired size the twin scroll benefit is debatable. Gtx2867 is superb on this car for spool but egt will be higher. A 3067 may be desired if you are on pump gas for 350whp.

After reading pretty much this entire thread (as well as the open tablet header), it seems to me that a true quality UEL like JDL is the way to go for REAL HP both on top and at the torque dip. As for myself I am thinking about pairing this with a Perrin Resonated (or not) Catback and leaving everything else intact. I am wondering what this combo would sound like and what the gains would be. I don't want any drone or raspiness.
PS - What is the status of your dual catback, do you think we will see this by summer? Last edited by F1fletch; 01-13-2014 at 04:39 PM. |

I'd do the same. Judging by the quality of their current exhaust components, I'd sell my Tomei without hesitation.

I'm still up in the air on a to produce a production cat back. I have all the materials here to build a 3" titanium for my personal car and the materials alone were almost as much as wholesale on the Tomei (which i think is a VERY nice piece that i would put on my car without hesitation.) Even with a stainless steel exhaust i'm not sure what price point we could hit, I admit i haven't looked into really hard yet as we've been too focused with the headers. Now that we are close to caught up and bringing in another welder next week it should free up some time for me to pursue these things.

Oh, and keeping the dual tips! All these single exhausts look silly on a rear with two outlets. I think you guys could make an awesome looking exhaust with good tips and a good beefy muffler on the back sound amazing with the UEL header, and front pipe with a cat. |
