If you want to make the car easier to break traction, go down to 205 width tires out back and go up to like 50psi cold. A hard enough flick while jumping off the throttle should easily induce some lift off oversteer. At that point, you just need to keep the throttle down and keep your momentum up. Don't let the car get all bent out of shape and start gripping up on you.

Fast is safe
I'll start going faster! And I guess clutch kicking awesome! Thanks.

Thanks!!! Will try to stop caring lol

In my opinion, I feel that anything larger than the stock 215 is too big for stock power.

And what everyone else said regarding getting this car out.

Clutch kick. A lot. I put in a good 10-15 kicks just to complete one lap at the track I frequent. Also the FR-S has an amazing e-brake, so use it! =)

Plus the hardrace ones were in stock in NZ and I have a drift event on the 7th.
Thanks! Yeah in my search for angle modifications, not much has come up.. really really really looking forward to your review. Any small gain in steering angle thats relatively inexpensive would be a huge help.

First let me say Sorry if I missed it in this thread I may have over looked this question if it was asked.

Hey guys quick question. I am looking at getting BC coils for my FRS and I plan on drifting it at the local open drift days. I am just wondering if you guys would recommend changing the spring rate on the Coilovers to something different than the factory 8K/8K setting that the BC coils come with.

Thanks for the help guys and hope to see some of you Local Chicago guys out at the track!

Get Stance coils with 8k/9k swift springs.

You're welcome.

The only reason I am getting BC Coils is because I can get them from work for stupid cheap! So it is a no brainier for me. I had them on my 07 WRX and liked them.

I will take your word though on spring rates and tryout the 8k/9k thanks!

8f 9r is a good recommendation. I tried 5/5 and it was meh. I'm on 7/7 now and it's better, but still so so.

I'd like to try 8f 10r next.

Went drifting yesterday at Ruapuna. Managed to link A-track, which was hard slog NA.

If I was to offer anyone advice on what part/mod to get, it would be a flash tune. The stock rev limit is death for low power drifting, it was even a pain with the SC. If you hit it, the car just grips up. Get a flash tune, raise the rev limit to 8k, and this helps tremendously.

Would you use an 8k limit if you were reasonably boosted?

Define reasonably boosted.

The sc I ran for example, was already near redline at engine rpm 7400. So no I wouldn't push that further.

Depends on your setup bud.

What tune would you recommend for someone who is not going to be SC/Boosted anytime soon? I just have a front pipe back Exhaust. Sorry for the noob question. I came from the Subaru word and never really messed with tuning on NA cars.
