Just got off the phone again with my dealer. They spoke with their district sales rep and he said that Indiana (my State) and Kentucky will only get 37 cars over the next 7 months!

He said I have the same chance at my dealer as any other Indiana/Kentucky dealer and since I'm the first and only to ask about the BRZ they will take my order/deposit Thursday. So I'll be in and hope a car comes in sooner than later.

I'm feeling better about all of this now. Can't wait for my WR Blue Limited 6 MT.

You can take a whole group buy to a different dealership, there will still be plenty of people happy to walk in and fill your places. The dealership can't really lose no matter what. You can get revenge by waiting and getting below invoice 2 years from now when these are sitting on the lot and they're begging you to buy one.

That's when Zaku comes in to buy his BRZ, if I was going to wait that long LOL

Well it looks like I'm in. Will place order 9:00 AM Thursday. Will get it for MSRP with no add ons (sealant, protection plan etc.)

Much happier than I was a few hours ago!

Nice, congrats! That's all I want is MSRP, I think that's fair.

Question is whether demand will still be there in year 2, year 3, year 4....etc. to justify to Subaru the continued production of this car. I sure hope so.
Funny that you brought this up. I remember during the *Leeky incident* I said that Toyota/FHI may try to play with limited production to see the interests of this car and then pick up the production once the orders are in. Although that was bluffed by the subsequent clarification, and now here comes the FHI saying the dealers will only get certain allotment.

Here is the post I made last year: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=255

Having said that, I wonder if you can still custom-made your car with options and things and wait for it to come, or that you have to take whatever that is available and deal with it.

Yeah I was thinking back upon those conversations. While the details were off, it is amazing how the big picture was pretty spot on. Question is if Leeky was passed correct info (just details were wrong) and then Toyota/Subaru quickly cut the link and made sure that they corrected themselves and blamed it on "translation" issues. This could very well have been the plan all along with the production numbers.

You guys realize how long this car has been dragged out. From all the countdowns to auto shows, to reveals, to pre-ordering, to pricing. It is one long flirt. I doubt this was done by accident. This car has been production ready for close to 4 months now. Bet they have had pricing known for a while now. One big **** tease if you ask me.

So I did a google map search to see the places for different plants: Main (Prefecture?) and Yajima Plants. Luckily, I was able to get them both on the same image as they are really close.

Just to clarify: on the web page shown by Tranzformer there are the Main plant and Yajima plant. From the page, it said the main plant produces the small cars (R2, R1, Pleo, Sambar and Stella) while the Yajima plant produces the Legacy, Exiga, Impreza and Forester. I believe it is this main plant that will be producing the FR-S/BRZ and the production of those smaller cars are moved to Daihatsu.

PS: both plants are all located at Ota city, Gunma Perfecture. Ota city is about 50KM or so away from the Shibukawa city, which is the major city outside of the small town where the comic Initial D is based on.

This is what I found:

A) Gunma Ota North Plant: 27-1, Kanayama-cho, Ota-shi, Gunma 373-0027

B) Gunma Main Plant: 1-1, Subaru-cho, Ota-shi, Gunma 373-8555

A on the map is the Ota North Plant and B is the Gunma Main plant. Looks like you showed the Yajima plant. The Forester, what started this condo, is made at the Ota plant from what I can find online.

Other Subaru plants are:

Gunma Yajima Plant: 1-1, Shoya-cho, Ota-shi, Gunma 373-0822
Gunma Oizumi Plant: 1-1-1, Izumi, Oizumi-machi, Oura-gun, Gunma 370-0531
Isesaki Plant: 100, Suehiro-cho, Isesaki-shi, Gunma 372-8508

I believe it. This kind of thing happens all the time with firearm dealers. A specific item comes out that is hot due to word of mouth and is allocated based on the stock/sales of the dealer. 2 of each type for example(pistols, rifles), they'd get one of the new item.

I thought the Ota North plant is only manufacturing the automobile parts, and that plant is quite small (81 employees only).

Hmmm.. the foresters are made in the Yajima plant, not Ota-North plant.

Not entirely accurate. Some states have a more strict CAFE standard, California to name just one(it might be the only one actually). I'm not sure what they do to the car to make it pass there though, but it IS something.

Sure, but Scion's Pure Price includes $1200 or more tacked onto their invoice price. When was the last time you spent anywhere close to that much over invoice on a new car that wasn't rare? That's 4-5 times more than I'm used to based on my last 4 purchases. I hate Pure Pricing, it's for nimbulbs who lack any negotiating skills.
