Bad news from dealer

I just got off the phone with the sales manager at my nearest Subaru dealer (55 miles away). I'm the first and only serious buyer so far at this dealer.

Anyway they just got an email confirming March 1 as open order day. However as we know allocation is based on WRX sales and they have not sold any. Bingo! No BRZ for you until possibly late in 2012 (November)!

I stressed that I will buy a BRZ and they are going to contact district manager to see if any way I can get a car.

This really sucks...as next nearest dealer(s) is 80 miles away and then over 100 miles away and they have not sold many WRX's either.

You know this really blows, you would think that a car company would honor sold sales first regardless of previous WRX sales. What does WRX sales have to do with this anyway? I've never considered a WRX in the past but the BRZ is what I'm looking for.

In any case I'm not going to travel 100 or more miles to order and buy a car.

Outch thats a shame, so where do you live? Im sure Subaru can identify with the demographic of WRX owners closer than any other model they sell.

Sorry to hear this.. got some bad news from my dealer too.. said they may do a possible 1k over MSRP mark up. :barf:  :mad0259:

...if that happens im SOL, with no brz until the fall too...

If it's not worth an hour and a half of driving, it doesn't sound like you're that serious about the car. If drive across the country if had to.

That is bad news... Given that Subaru has decided to limit the numbers, not sure how sold orders would help this situation, as then the biggest dealers would have the largest preorders, or some dealer would sell tons at, or under invoice, to game the system, and so would be in the same boat.

What I really wish is that they did not decide to limit production, so everyone would have a chance to get this car.

The dealer I'm working with is 300 miles away. I'm doing the ordering through phone/fax and will be picking it up in person when it arrives. If you wanted the car you'd make the drive.

BRZ allocation

Yeah no fun, but if ya want it, gotta do what ya gotta do! Makes a fun trip, adds to Excitement I think! What's an hour or few hour drive for a cool new car!!

My dealer is allocated 6, they will have a demo to view / drive, but if you want that one is around $2k markup, otherwise see/drive/demo and order what you would like it sounds.

Good luck!!

I agree...that long test drive home is going to be fun.

Snoopyalien24 02-28-2012 05:58 PM

Well in that case, may suck for us here too. I hardly EVER see WRX's around here
