I'll stay tuned. Mine has been like this since December 2012.

They just wanted to know if I "cut" any wires or added LED's...

(None were added or wires cut)
What's the update on this

Checked fuses (found 2 in the owners manual) in the engine bay.
Measured the voltage on the dome light and it only outputs 3 volts...
Disconnected the battery for an hour.
Any other fuses I need to hunt down?

Have a dealer appointment on Wednesday for an oil change,
just want to make sure I do not get the "run around" at the dealer.

There's a very thin blue wire, with a little plastic covered in foam near the ECU under the drivers side air vent, the dealership appointed alarm guy accidentally cut that cable and I lost the dome light, I just spliced some new wire and reconnected it and had my dome light back.

Hopefully I will know tomorrow evening.
My appointment from last week was rescheduled,
(Part was not in and we had a mayor snow and cold spell)

Update, It was the BIU controller
Dealer had an issue after replacing it,
He thought replacing it would do the trick.
It did, but not without reprogramming the modules and resetting all settings.
I had to set the shift light and gear indicators again, so it looks like the BIU control module has an effect on a lot of settings in the car.
All was done under warranty too.
Thumbs up to My Dealer for a job well done!

I had a little better luck than you. Went to longo and told them it wasn't functioning. Fixed it under warranty. They had me leave my car there over night. Apparently they had 1 module in stock and gave me a rental. (2014 corolla s auto.) Worst 24 hours of my life, felt like i was driving my fr-s in first gear the whole time. I think it took them a little less than an hour to fix it. Told me the mechanic fixing the problem would come in the next day at 10am, they called me at 10:43am. Guy told me he already had all the paper work done when he called me. They had to replace the board, rewire, and reflash all three of my keys. Even though 1 of them is just a key... Whatever, it was under warranty and the total would of costed me 780$. I'm a happy camper, and no more corolla.

Got mine fixed today... went in yesterday and they said oh its probably the dome fixture, I said um I doubt it, its all over the forums that the BIU is at fault and they said oh ok, we'll order one overnight come back tomorrow morning and we'll replace it. I'm like ok cool, a dealer that listens to owners... thanks to Riverside Subaru in Little Rock, AR.

Then a day later it quit again... so I checked the dome light fuse and started working again, for about an hour. So I put the incandescent bulb back in and it worked so I put the led back again, didn't work, changed the polarity, and its been working for two days now.

Is the dome light fuse located in the engine bay or under the steering wheel?

In the rh big fuse box in the engine bay. But I think it is more than just the fuse for the light. I think it is for the BIU.
