Will be interesting to see the effect of the extra power when it gets put to the ground around the track.

Hopefully they'll add a set of their Tein SRC coilovers and some sticky RS3s, then we'll know.

We did confirm what we originally suspected this weekend.... an oil cooler is a must with FI.

We kept a careful eye on temps, and did some easy laps.

Yes. While you can get away without, you won't get full enjoyment of the kit if you don't have one.

Compared to $4995 for the CARB legal kit, a few hundred more for an oil cooler is not much, and we would recommend that everyone get an oil cooler with the kit.

Disclosure: The Jackson Racing Supercharger installation manual does say that an oil cooler is high recommended. We just do things the hard way sometimes for the sake of completeness in our testing.

I thought the JRSC kit comes with a Setrab oil cooler (as seen in your install pics)...?

That's the cooler for the Supercharger oil AKA traction fluid AKA unicorn blood, not the engine oil. The kit does not include an engine oil cooler.

Csg is speaking about engine oil cooler not the blower cooler.

Separate question for you: are you going to be running an accessory AOS/catch can?
The kit uses factory routing, except where the idler is added for additional belt wrap around the supercharger.

As you can see, it's SUPER easy to inspect the belt. The factory tensioner holds the belt in place, and the belt itself can be replaced by just lowering the tensioner, same as stock.

Big pulley is the crank pulley

Silver = alternator. Down/right from silver = pulley added by the Supercharger. Right of that is the supercharger itself and its pulley

Top pulley is the AC pulley. Left of it is the supercharger.

In what regard? Both kits have their pros and cons, but it really depends on what your priorities are.
So what are the pros and cons of both? I have seen the Jackson is better for low/mid range and the vortek is better for High....but that is about it.

On a side note the instal of the Jackson kit looks a LOT easier.

Not everyone is looking for the same things.

The Rotrex is quieter, runs more efficiently (lower IAT), and has linear boost growth (the Vortech is slightly exponential).

The Vortech has more overhead for big power if you want to upgrade later with injectors, fuel pump, possibly clutch, and a smaller pulley.

Can you use open flash for the CARB tune or do you have to use ecutech for ether the vortech or Jackson kit?

Does the CARB tune not have to be locked for it's regulation, therefore I doubt that any open platforms would be supported.

It can be locked on open flash by using the .dev method.

Only the EcuTek CARB tune is certified by CARB.
