AFAIK you're the only ESC owner to exceed 200whp on pump gas. Was that TQ250 or TQ300? Was your BRZedit tune a generic base map or custom dyno tune?

As for e85, let's all keep in mind that most people will realistically need a flex-fuel kit and tune to make this a viable option. e85 and e50 are not the same thing.

Thanks.

First off I don't think the catback exhaust or front pipe really added all that much hp to the situation. But if you want to remove that from the equation I'm pretty sure you are still looking at around 218-220. I feel if you are willing to spend around $2650 get the oft header, the oft, batteries, and the esc. And you can surpass my approximate 250hp/200 tq.

And for $2150 yes you can probably end up getting the oft, phantom esc, and batteries.

As for the e85 as shiv@vishnu has stated the car can handle a mixture of e85 fairly easily. I filled up the tank of my car with 91 with still 1/8 of tank of e85 left and the car handled it like a champ (I was closely watching my oft data)

But Freddy feel free to keep posting. It makes me warm and fuzzy on the inside when I see you post.

So in your opinion, deleting a very restrictive oem cat and adding a less restrictive cat-back exhaust only added 3-5whp? I hate splitting hairs over pure conjecture but I'd say it's closer to 10whp than 3-5. I also seriously question the assertion that a generic base tune will add as much power as your custom dyno tune did. The difference between my base stage 2 tune and custom dyno tune was +7whp and that was N/A on pump gas.

Still not getting the pricing and peak gains you guys keep quoting. $1600 for the ESC, $500 for the OFT, $150 for bargain basement batteries (that even you don't trust) will somehow make 2 more whp than you got with a cat-less front pipe, cat-back and custom dyno tuning session??? Add the OFT header to bone stock everything and suddenly you're making over 250whp! WTF???

Thanks for your permission to keep posting but it's really not necessary. Neither was the very unsettling news that it makes you feel "warm and fuzzy on the inside". TMI.

So you are saying, with just farting around with a tablet and software, and accompanied by knowledge, you can eek out 220BHP on E85?

I really want to read this entire thread but "PEAS AND RICE", it's what they say on TV in a movie when you can't say "JESUS CHRIST"; thars darn near 3000 postings. Wish they had Cliff Notes for this thread.

Really hope everyone had a good weekend...

Shiv's covered all the E85 - E50 talk about not needing a flexfuel kit. If you can't find the thread I can try too. He covers everything you don't know.

If you want the cliff notes read the first post and watch the videos in post 1 and post 5.

Also read the phantom supercharger thread started by drift office and their review of the product for a unbiased view of this tech.

I am obviously biased because the unit is on my car but I have owned two full time FI cars in the past, 2009 wrx and a 2011 sti.

The power that this thing is putting out feels very close to my 2009 wrx stage 1 in terms of power to weight.

In my opinion it is a great unit for the price and the car drives and idles damn near stock when you are not WOT.

For shiv's tunes, you may get another 3hp more by spending another hour on the dyno with shiv and he actually focuses on the drivability of the car and none of this looks good stuff over knock city unlike some.

The assumption that your base tune is equal to the OTS tune is a fallacy, it is no where as polished as shiv's.

It was my understanding that Shiv's tune for e85 and 91 on OFT is what the basemap will become. You have to start somewhere and i dont believe he was pushing the knock threshold to get those numbers. If he wants to sell that tune it has to be safe for everyone.

Both Sojhinn and I have done over 200whp, i did it on 94octane with a final number of 205.x hp on a dyno dynamics with the TQ250 and otherwise stock car using the BRZ edit base tune(by Toma) that Bu-Tang and Pug are also running.

The TQ300 is still a major work in progress, numbers have been anywhere from 206 to 208hp depending on the dyno. We have only had a hour or so on the dyno with that charger and we didnt have enough time to get the AFR's in check(lean enough) considering the issues that more boost created down low in the RPM band.

As far as E85.... people can do what they want, just because you think everyone needs flex fuel doesnt make it true. Most people love e85 and the benefits that it brings to this platform, lets leave it up to them whether they want flex fuel or not.

As far as the exhaust parts go, it is what it is..... Bu_tang for example made the identical top end HP to my car and he had a full SRT headback exhaust. His power curve was alot smoother and he was using 91octane. There are just so many variables to consider.

You and s2d4 should both read this. I'm not saying that it is the definitive answer to flex fuel vs e85 but it makes some very good points.

That is pure assumption on your part. It could just as easily be +10whp since we're tossing out blind guesses.

The assumption that your base tune is equal to the OTS tune is a fallacy, it is no where as polished as shiv's.

Again, pure assumption on your part. You couldn't possibly know this for fact.

True. It's still a better tune than OTS so why is it okay to claim that an OTS tune with a more restrictive exhaust will make more power and cost less than the current model?

Yeap, I read it. Obviously you didn't read the other one.

It just so happens what I had stated were not assumptions. Feel free to search the forum for more info.
As for your gripe about the power claims, please read what I had quoted, it had nothing to do with what you replied with.

It's truly sad that even exaggerated claims are defended as vehemently here as scripture in a Baptist church. This thread wreaks of fanaticism.

In a nutshell, all I intended to say is that I disagree with Fenton's off-handed claim that for only $2150 anyone can get the ESC, OFT e85 tune, reliable batteries and make 225whp and 200wtq. IMO that is yet another exaggeration but to each his own. Carry on ESC fans.

Ecs plus e85 and your going to be close IMO. I can only use the limited data we have from the OFT testing and unfortunately that had a front pipe and exhaust. At this point we are splitting hairs for sure.

One thing we do know is that e85 can usually add about 15hp to any na tune just by the fact that you can run more timing. Add that to my stock results or any others tq250 results and you are at between 210 to 220.

I'm a fanatic of the Phantom ESC.

There, I said it.

Show me another product that can make 180 ft/lbs of torque in the 3000 to 4000 range.

$2,150...$2,239.47...who gives a rats ass. There isn't another upgrade at twice the cost that produces half the results...oops, my hyperbole filter was turned off.

Damn fanaticism.
