That shifting method is a preventative measure to reduce DI seal wear.

Set the shift light at 3500 RPM for break-in, but haven't changed it since.

On a side note, we put over 100 miles on track yesterday.

Is that still an issue with the updated tune? or is this more out of an abundance of caution based on your past experiences?

It is an abundance of caution based on past experience. There isn't much to gain from fast shifts, other than accelerated wear for a minor drop in lap times. Learning to shift properly without mashing on the gas also improves driving smoothness. In fact, Mike's driving has improved dramatically since we got CSG BRZ 1.0.

I recently saw that ECUTek has some features on their tune that allow you to keep the throttle down while shifting, would this hurt the DI seals?

We're not intending to drag race... sorry! Someone else will have to do that video, but I'm sure it'll be done soon...

How long you expect the stock clutch to last? Street and mild track driving?

Reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally interested in this once I get my car out of storage in March(I cry myself to sleep every night, until I remember that my Yaris outside getting eaten by salt while my BRZ is tucked away in a heated garage).

I understand that.

It's just that its a $5,000 modification and from that video, it doesn't APPEAR to be that much of a difference through the first couple gears. Hopefully somebody does a video where they go all out through the gears.

I don't drag race or anything either but with a bit of a launch and more expedited shifting, I think the difference between stock and this kit would be more apparent.

If you were looking for just straight line speed you'd have to have a built engine or a swap really ...

On the track, you are going to spend most of your time in 3rd and 4th gear at 5k plus rpms ... downshifting to 2nd more rarely and hitting 5th gear if the track has some decent straights ... so the power band for Superchargers or Turbos works out nicely ... You are likely to be in a nice boost level all the way around the track ....

The advantage of the supercharger is the near immediate addition of increased power - albeit in a less dramatic fashion than a turbo. It's a predictable application of power, where as flooring a spooled up turbo can have you sideways before you know it lol.
The current superchargers all seem to stay within what seems to be a level of power the stock engine internals can handle. The clutch might not handle 280hp or more for any length of time. There's also a concern at that power level of the rear axles failing especially if you are lowered significantly ...

5k is a lot of money ... agreed ... But adding 80 to 100 HP to this car and its low weight makes a really quick car in the turns ...

Dunno if you've seen this but this is on stock tires and recorded with iPhone

If you volunteer your car, please know that I will be driving your car on track, while taking a full datalog. You are more than welcome to ride shotgun. We're more interested in the data, not lap times, as the lap times can have a large variance depending on the other modifications on your car.
I would volunteer my car, however we are not in the same region

If you're not slipping it, it should have no effect on the clutch's life. A clutch is either engaged, or not engaged (except when you're slipping it, or the clutch can't handle the torque), and neither of those two wear it.

$5K gets you ~60hp.

The dyno pasted in this thread showed 70 HP gain on a carb tune ... there's more there than 60 HP ....
