Its called "Ibex Protection" on my service order. interior and exterior paint and fabric protection. Side note, In college I worked full time at a chevrolet/hummer dealership in the new car department, my job was to accept delivery from freight, inspect, install, clean and put on the lot, then when a customer purchased a car I would bring it in off the lot and do a full detail. doing this for 3+ years I am no stranger to detailing a car. back then at the chevy dealer they would sell a similar product to "Ibex" it was a DuPont brand sealant that was applied to the exterior paint and interior parts including the seats. customers paid a premium for this and it was always handled by our senior new car tech "Joe" who had been there for 30+ years. when Joe got a paint and fabric order he always spent at least 6 hours, 8+ depending on the size of the vehicle, applying this DuPont protection. I honestly expected the identical thing from my Toyota dealer, in fact expected a little more being I paid over $600 for this. The manager at the dealership reached out to me after I displayed my dissatisfaction in a survey from scion. he proposed I bring the car back again for a full detail he said valued at $150. I had already fixed the issue myself by the point and told them I didn't want that. then they offered me a check for $200, I accepted that. so after all I spent around $400.

Learn about using a clay bar. It's not some exotic process that only a dealer can do.

from my experience I have seen the darker colors show swirls and spider webs in greater detail and that would require a proper detail with a buffing wheel polish to fix. I would not trust any dealer to do this lol. The opticoat is basically the same thing, I am looking into applying something similar myself in a years time.

Others make great points here. Bottom line if you're not experienced in good washing and care techniques take it to a reputable detailer great investment for your new car to begin with. Secondly if can afford it get entire front end done in Xpel or similar protection film, thank me later.
This cars paint is "so so" film on entire hood and front bumper at a minimum will keep front end looking new for years to come.

That stuff was terrible on my BRZ. The waxy stuff they put in it faded the side black plastic vents / markers and seemed to dry it out, deteriorate it. I do not recommend it and certainly won't be using that particular meguiar's product again. |
