If you're comparing the car to your awd xf, of course it's less competent. But don't assume that just because we can drive the car in the winter and you cant, we'll crash.
We acknowledge that this car is no wrx but to say that this car is dangerous in the winter is wrong. That's completely up to the driver and their driving habits. Your opinions is just that, opinions. Try not shoving it in other people's throats. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4

Saw a WRX up against a guard rail the other day and a Legacy in a ditch...no car is perfect takes a person to operate it at safe speeds

I didn't slide once at all driving through the ice storm effected areas, not under acceleration, braking or cornering except when I was on a deserted road testing out how little grip there was. I saw lots of full size trucks and SUV's sliding around all over the place too. Good tires and drive smart and you're fine. I think you need to put things in perspective a bit... no one is claiming these cars are better than a 4x4 truck or awd car (with comparable tires), but it's also nowhere near as bad as you claim it is with the "defective" rear suspension. If the car was 1/4 as bad as you claimed you wouldn't be saying it was easy to drive. It's a light RWD sports car, it'll never have the forward grip of an awd car under any condition, so stop expecting the impossible out of it.

All I can do is pass along the benefit of my experience and knowledge. Your inability to benefit from, or apparently even understand, my explanations is beyond my control. Sorry and be careful out there.

Nobody has to read my posts, much less respond. Any car that oversteers as readily as this one is dangerous to drive. The real tragedy is that Subaru/Toyota ruined what would otherwise be a perfect little sportscar by catering to a small and, I suspect, a diminishing market of people who think they want a drift car. Oversteering cars are slow and unnecessarily difficult to drive in winter. One concern I have judging from other winter threads is that many buyers of these cars will have no idea why they stuffed it into the guardrail. I hope that's all they do before they accept that this car has evil handling at the limits. |

Just an FYI, most drift cars are setup to push and be more stable off power so that it's easier to manage steering angle with the gas pedal. It's impossible to straighten out a very loose car by backing off the gas, but a tight (understeering) car will want to straighten out as soon as the rear tires stop spinning. If you think these oversteer easily, go drive a high end sports car and see how your opinion changes then. A relative of mine daily drivers (winter too) a 993 911, and it's way more oversteer prone (and not as easy to catch) than these cars. I've driven it through lots of snowy days without issue as well, it's all in how you drive and having good tires.

I think wparsons is right the BRZ is nowhere near MR2 SW20 early batch snap oversteer. Not even S2000 AP1 snap oversteer territory lol! What's to complain about there's VSC + TC.
Actually I always see 4WD cars in the ditch every winter, yet the FR or MR cars will make it thru no problem (except really steep hills like in North York). |

I'm driving mine. Leave the nannies on unless you have a specific time you need to turn them off (when the weather is bad). Bad weather is the reason they're so common in the first place.
