Garage
Wow, just found this thread, and read it start to finish. I have so much respect for those with the talent and time to do their own fabrications. I have lots of ideas of how I want things, but no skill, tools, time, garage, or wisdom to do it myself. I have to rely on aftermarket manufactures to predict my wants and needs. Maybe (hopefully) when I retire I'll be able to work on things like this. In the meantime, GREAT WORK. So much respect.
Subbed to thread.

... and yeah, I want the rear brace too.

Yeah its pretty straight forward to make one, doing production level runs raise different obstacles but its certainly possible.

Pretty small update but I got the time to locate the blow off on the upper charge pipe. Also you can see the offset K&N filter on the turbo, there will be a fresh air duct as well.

The supervisor was at the shop today so I had to get some work done.

Just about done the catch can.

Made a super simple bracket that sandwichs under the battery to mount the can

Also welded on a IAT bung in the upper charge pipe so that decides that the car will be tuned speed density. I was going back and forth for a while on that.

Little update on the rear brace, I changed up the top section and brackets. Should be even stronger then before. I also changed up the lower bracket to be lighter without compromising strength.

Getting back to the project now, today I put together a large list of stuff and material that needs to be ordered. Also welded up the intercooler piping.

In other car news I have ordered a set of 17x9 Team Dynamics to replace the 17x7's I have now. Same color and style as I have now but I have to make room for some more rubber. Planning 255's. Team Dynamics makes wheels to order in your choice of offset, bore, and bolt circle. Pretty sweet deal, no spacers or rings here.

Not for me, but I would like to be able to mount some sort of noise barrier to the brace to cut down on cabin noise from the trunk area. If the total weight of the brace and barrier was the same as or less than the oem seat back that would be a big win. I think the OEM seat back is near 20 lbs??

Awesome work btw.

Hey,

You know that IC core mounting has the flow going opposite the way it does on the OEM application? Not sure it will matter as i don't recall the fin layout on those cores but just thought i would mention it... Stock application the charge flows in the vertical inlet and out the horizontal...

Assuming the core is non directional, that is better routing than most kits i have seen. Is there room in the bay to clock the compressor housing about 80 degrees so that the charge pipe comes off under the filter?
