Dynosty Tuned FR-S yields 355WHP with GTX28 Turbo and E85

The Dynosty team specked out a GTX28 turbo kit and E85 fuel to create an awesome stock-engine power plant. After installing the turbo kit, we bolted up Motiv concepts over pipe and front pipe, and then a MXP exhaust system. The fuel system was upgraded with a set of Dynosty 550cc plug&play injectors and drop-in fuel pump. We replaced the clutch and flywheel in favor of an ACT clutch kit that would hold the power.

With all of the parts in place, it was on to the dyno where we used EcuTek to dial in 264WHP DD on pump gas (300whp Dynojet). At this point, the fuel was exchanged for E85 and we increased boost to 13psi yielding 355WHP DD (400WHP Dynojet).

Looks like the @FullBlown kit but shouldn't the GTX28 have a V band exhaust housing? Great numbers as usual, and I love that flat torque curve from 4400 RPM to redline.

Looks good. Nice smooth curves.

Are you running MAF or Speed Density?

Also how is the bottom end holding up. Think it is good for any more power on the stock bottom end?

Cheers,
William Knose

Yes, it's a base kit with turbo upgrade. +1 on torque curve!

Both, MAF down low but it pegs out... so we switch to SD in boost. Using Omni map sensor.

Nice numbers guys
MAF will max out pretty quickly on this vehicle as you can see. Though you can rescale and use a larger intake pipe, etc... Just more work where as a quick solution is just to run hybrid. When running a hybrid setup with EcuTeK RaceROM (as performed well by Hal@Dynosty) it is a great solution as it keeps the wonderful low end drivability, cruising, idle etc... but allows for easy power on top which is basically unlimited now.

William Knose

Really nice stuff!!

However, I do have to nit-pick about the chart scaling.. 500 hp max Y-axis on a 355 hp plot, coupled with an already wide aspect chart.

It just makes it difficult to see the torque/power curves with any kind of detail.

They are running blow through, which usually causes the top end to get flaky when your running near the edge of the maf limit. Blow through setups usually also need to be sized slightly larger to be equivalent to a draw through setup to get the resolution you want. And placement is very important, 12 inches of straight pipe with an air straightener is usually what I like to see in a Blow thru MAF setup. To close to a bend, or no air straightener just makes it harder to tune, and will cause inconsistencies that cant be tuned out if its bad enough. You may already know this from working on your setup, but 99% of the time its still easier to tune blwo thru's via hybrid SD...
