I have fhis setup with the 5" muffs. Really sporty sound but i would advise you to get a tune. I bave the OFT which gives me the opportunity to flash between the latest maps and the stock tune. Once i accidently flashed the stock tune on my car and was very upset at the performance a stock tune has with his exhaust. More difficult to grt out of first and really jerky between 2 to 3k rpms.

I just ordered the OFT and nameless DP....

Have you logged it yet to see if there were any problems with a stg1 tune and the DP?

I have not played with it yet.. to be honest I dont really know how to interpret the numbers. If you would like to review I can log and post today. I would actually appreciate someone else taking a look at my setup. I just hope I don't read about their being some less than ideal figures f.. you know what I mean? its like having cancer but wishing you didn't know you had it. Happily ignorant

Here in a few days I'll download all the software on my laptop... As far as looking at the log all I really know is AFR ranges and that you shouldn't see knock or >5% LTFT.

I've read a lot mostly on nasioc about my last car and I paid attention when my car was being tuned. that being said ive never tuned anything and i'm by no means an expert.

I'm expecting to have things a little off due to my elevation and possibly because of the nameless dp. Hoping they'll cancel and not stack lol.

so basically i have the GReddy SP Elite Axle Back and I'm still, after reading this whole thread, wondering if i should go resonated on the catted OP/DP lol i want my exhaust louder but not ricey … does the resonator control loudness or does it simply control raspyness that won't affect how loud it gets ?

Not sure really. I can tell you that with mine i have zero rasp but it can be on the loud side especially on start up. What i do love about this setup is i can hear an almost burbly sound when change gears. A bit of that boxer rumble comes through in-between shifts.
I have heard that a resonator will help with raspy exhausts. Not sure how much it actually quiets the overall sound

That's aweosme ... Is yours catted as well? I just don't want nasty rasp but def want a louder exhaust setup that's gunna give me more growl and a nice butt dyno boost

Yes it is resonated and catted. The sound is totally respectable in terms of neighbors. Dont get the op downpipe combo unless your getting it tuned. My advice. If sound is all u want than get the 5". Personally i may be selling my. 5" muffs down the road because i really want headers and i dont want it to be too loud. I will just put back on the stock muffler. With the headers aNd op downpipe combo i should see some gains. Mufflers alone only net u small power if any you could notice

yes I'm going tuned later on in the future but not sure if ill be pulling the trigger on headers just yet… i may just do the unresonated bc i only have an axle back exhaust and its not crazy loud

Perhaps other op/downpipe owners think differently but i cant emphasize enough how important a tune was for me with the op downpipe. For me, the car drove worse with this op downpipe than without it. Boggy at low rpms and difficult to pull out at low rpms. Got a tune and car drives amazing.

Good luck bro

thanks brother ill be sure to let everyone know how it goes and post a video… i wanted to get this piece before my tune … it was either a tune or the OP/DP so i decided on getting the pipe and then tune it later on in a month or so because i will def see more gains

Interesting.

We had no problems designing one that fit both an Automatic and Manual transmission.

The Helmholtz resonator is specifically designed to target a drone frequency that we experienced with a header installed. A big contributor to rasp in the exhaust is removing the cats from the system, and has little/nothing to do with the Helmholtz resonator.

All of our initial testing was done with no tuning applied to the parts. Sorry to hear about your troubles, but I am happy to hear that the car drives well now. It would be interesting to see datalogs/dyno graphs of the car with the tune and without the tune.

So should i go non res or resonated lol I'm not planning on doing an aftermarket header and if i do get one it will be catted as well…. i just want a louder exhaust and not ricey I drive an automatic so i don't cruise at 4K rpms

Here is our OP/DP with a helmholtz resonator, compatible with both the auto and manual BRZ/FR-S in LHD.
