Did they have a build 'spec' to reach that number? as I'm with the unicorn, seems a bit of a strectch to just bolt on the blower to a low compression engine and expect 440Bhp at the crank

I don't know what the price difference between those two cars is where your from, but I could buy four FRS for the price of one GTR, and still have thousands left over.

To anyone who has doubts.. to properly utilise this larger supercharger.. you'd need.. An engine rebuild with.. .. lower compression pistons .. steel rods .. upgraded head gaskets .. uprated valve train Transmission upgrades.. .. clutch with sufficient clamp/torque rating .. upgraded transmission? Fuel system upgrades.. .. higher flowing fuel injectors .. higher flowing system pump/system .. fuel tank modifications to support the above .. possibly change fuel system completely to a return type system Induction upgrades.. .. air filter/intake .. exhaust manifold/system Electronic upgrades.. .. sensors.. .. possibly an aftermarket ecu, polishing a turd (oe ecu) is a pita Very high level.. $10k+.. maybe even $20k.. |

Unicorn has the right of it. This isn't an upgrade to the existing system, this is a blower for people wanting a completely different animal.

Cooling systems. Radiator oil cooler
Brakes - because the factory brakes barely hold up on auto x Axles- you can blow those apart with factory power Driveshaft Diff mounts Motor mounts Catch can Suspension Tires Wheels The list goes on and on and on when you try to put that amount of power down RELIABLY. And like the unicorn god has said. If you want that why don't you buy a car that can handle it. This chassis was NOT designed to see that kind of power. It's not for me. I would LOVE to see someone do it and I would love to go for a ride but it makes no sense IMHO to do this to a car and expect to drive it every day. Also I would love to see the people who are complaining that the unholy sub 300 WHP isn't enough drive this car around a track (not a straight one) to its full potential. I am sure some can but 99.9% can't. Power isn't the answer. Practice is. And it's more respectable. I like putting down better lap times than 400hp mustangs.

@calispec Almost every car needs reinforcement from the factory to sustain big numbers. OEMs don't build for the enthusiasts. They make compromises for grand mama and papa. Stating that this car wasn't meant for big power is a given. Common factory cars are not meant for big power. Even the Regal T-type and GNs from back in the 80's needed thousands of dollars in reinforcements to make reliable with BIG power. Yet, when most people look at a Regal or GN, they think grandma's car. Lol
This is a hobby. A hobby for those with the disposable income to sustain it. I don't know of many hobbies that don't require investments and over the years it becomes significant. Nothing wrong with that. Picking up a Viper and making it EVEN faster with less than 10k investment.. Where's the fun in that? Pulling up in an 80's Regal/GN or 86 in unsuspecting monster form.. Now that's cool. No denying.

Also talking a Regal or Del Slow. By the time you are done making BIG power you are into it a total of 10 grand. That's fun! Didn't mean to come off like a schmuck just want people to know what they are getting into. Modifying cars is a sickness and I am on hospice.

It's all good buddy. We are on the same page. The S5-335 will have a specific audience. I would be surprised if we had more than 6 people on the forum who publicly take it in that direction. Built shortblocks are not a walk in the park. Same for the turbo guys. Everybody is on borrowed time with FI and stock block.
