If both make 350whp, the one that has more area under the curve and gets back on boost after a shift faster will pull away. This is proven over and over again in the real world. Who cares if one of them has another degree of timing advance to get that 350whp? It's still 350...

You picked a horsepower number that is EASY to achieve with either turbo. We're not talking about maxing out a small turbo vs breathing room with a slightly larger one, we're talking about making an easy power number vs making the same easy power number with more lag.

And also if this is for a track car do you care much on your transient lag? Because what RPM your turbo kicks in at is well... rubish to me I don't give a damn when it kicks in. I give a damn about how long it takes to kick in (NOT BASED OFF RPM) for my throttle response. I wish everyone would stop talking about what RPM a turbo kicks in at... On a high compression motor with good flowing heads everything is going to spool at a low rpm in a high gear, or on a loaded dyno...

Although in this thread there is also talk about the knock wall. This is pushed a tad further on the GTX30 due to lower exhaust back pressure, so if you are aiming on pump gas this turbine might be more desirable.

I haven't "chosen an easy whp target" I am being realistic about what can be achieved on pump gas. As I've said a couple of times now, its not two turbos, one HP target, the gtx30 frame will provide more on pump gas. It will also stay much more efficient under a race only type ethanol tune of close to 400whp.

Agree with your points mostly as well. Of course transient lag is important. What I will add, is that it simply isnt possible to slam the power down on the track anyway (if you're driving on the limit) My Bullet SC providing instant boost, but I couldn't use it out of corners, I had to roll onto the throttle otherwise the rear would break free; and this was on semi slicks. Experienced the same while NA, but on street tyres.

I'm not going to harp on about why I believe the gtx30 to be the better choice for what I want, I've made my points and all I am going to do now is repeat them as others chime in without reading or taking these points in.

What I will add though, is that THREE tuners (that have tuned this car, on a range of turbos including the GTX28 and the GTX30) all comment that there is very little different in spool and transient lag between the two. The three slightly different on the RPM amount, they range from 200rpm - 400rpm. These are first hand platform specific unbiased feedback from tuners. Not one sided feedback/arguements from someone only commenting on their particular setup, with no other experience of another setup. FA20Club are the ones making these comments publicly, they've even just started an FAQ thread as they're not doubt getting sick of chiming into different threads and saying the same thing. Their information lines up with the info I have been PM'd by the other two, who clearly dont want to put out their findings/kits publicly yet.

Sounds like you've picked your turbo. For pump gas the 3071 can be more beneficial if you just need a bit more power. And trust me I feel ya on the power... I had 360WHP with my vortech setup, the power in corners is worthless but it was nice not having to throttle in 1 second before i know i need to be rolling my throttle in. It is just driver preference on that part.

We recently tested it to that level a few months back. We'll be releasing that build and its specs in the coming weeks. If you want since youre local to us you can come by the shop for a test ride.
I can't seem to find where you guys are actually located. Is it in the website?

IIRC = If I Recall Correctly. And Just because I have shipped back and forth, and bought Mr. Toni a plane ticket from Ft. Lauderdale lol. I flew him out to tune my car in person. He is "near" there. PM him or call his 800# tomorrow if you are trying to stop by, i imagine it is best to make an appointment.

Can I ask what some of you guys do for a living? Many of you seem to make quite a living. I'm always curious. I have held quite a few jobs and think its time to settle somewhere and do something I like. Looking for ideas.

....and I should put that in the off topic section. Sorry. Still getting used to actually using forums instead of just reading.
