Probably no cargo space ?

I have not seen any wealthy enthusiast worry about cargo space, as they always have DD. reason why Vette are sold so well.
Already had 4 vettes.. 2 of them were Z06's. I'm done.. Don't care for the new look either.. The one I drove was black.. It looked like the bat mobile.. I'm not batman..
Bought my first vette when I was 45.. 99FRC. Loved every minute of owning them.. Not a street racer anymore.. Don't need 465 HP to get around.. Or prove anything.. So I got what fits my needs. I miss the power and V8 sounds.. But that was replaced by nimbleness and crisp responses.. At less than half the price too.. Which is why I'm over enthusiastic about it.. I don't like the looks of the LFA either.. And wouldn't want the headache of owning a super car I wouldn't fully utilize..
I miss my 04 Z06 (over the C6 Z) and the M3. Loved of the FRC look of my 99 C5 too.. These are the 3 I miss the most.. And the 95 honda civic I had as my beater car.. No power steering, crank windows, manual everything ! just as plain and simple as they come.. I wish I had kept that one..

But being 13+ years old German machine, And me being retired.. I wasn't looking forward to all the maintenance and things it was going to need not far down the road.. But I enjoyed the 2 years I had with it.. But it was not as lightweight or as nimble
As the FRS.. but more practical and balanced than the C6 and I didn't feel like batman driving it..
So here I was with a pocket full of money, time on my hands and still a car fanatic.. So off I went to the dealers.. The P cayman was my first stop..
Test drove the 77k cayman S.. Nice car! Great looks, descent power, stiff ride!
Looked at used options, etc.. But decided it was more car than I needed and maintenance is just too complex on that car.. You need to take apart lots of stuff for simple things.. And it's just too expensive, too much to worry about for my simple driving needs. I still track my cars.. But only a couple of times a year..
No need to impress anyone anymore as I'm too old to care what others think.. I always had high HP, high performance cars that were more capable than me.. Never using them to their potential.. The lotus is a joke.. It's too small and impractical for daily use.. I gave up having two cars so I needed a one car solution for everyday use and something to run around a track once in awhile..
I test drove the FRS.. Bought it the next day. Of course it's not as fast, as comfortable, as prestigious, as powerful or as capable as some of my other cars were.. But for the money and my needs.. It's damn near perfect!
So while I'm called a fan boy and may seem overly excited about this car..
It's because it fits my needs so well, is fun as he'll in the real world.. One of the Best looking Japanese car ever made! And it's nice owning something that's inexpensive.. Makes beating on it even more fun when you know it's not costing you lots of $$$ to play..
I have owned 44 cars in 45 years of driving.. I want to try them all! Right now the FRS is perfect for my needs and wants...
I went and checked out the C7 and walked away thinking how over corvettes I am.. After owning 4 of them in the last 14 years.. I finally got it out of my system.. To me the new one looks too much like the bat mobile.. Which is another reason I like the FRS so much.. Less is more.. Must be an age thing..
Fair enough. Sounds like you got the right car for you, and I hope you enjoy it for a long time.

Hmm. Low mileage 986 Boxster? I'd be a bit cautious of that one, due to the IMS issue...

OP's sentiment is similar to what my friends with E30 and E36 always say. It's not about having the newest most gadget-laden car. It's about enjoying the drive.

I know nothing about them or their issues.. I will look into that, thanks.
thought it might be something to get if reasonable and the car itself is desirable..
then turn it over in 2 years or so.. a passing thought.. will see..

As much as I love the FRS and BRZ, if I could swing it I'd pick the C7 in a heartbeat. I went and checked them out yesterday.. In that dark Night Race Blue color.. Yeah, that goes second in place in my want list, just below the even more unreasonable F Type Coupe V8R.

Hey. My brz was not reliable, but I still stand firmly entrenched in the belief that there is not a better car being built today for the money. The 86 is the only car I wish to drive and I am currently working with SoA to get me behind the wheel of another one.

For that money, buy the car, have the bearing replaced if it hasn't been already, and enjoy it for a decade.

Agreed. It's definitely worth replacing the bearing with an aftermarket (stronger) part as a preventative measure, since a blown engine on those things is expensive (and when the IMS bearing goes, it takes out the engine), but at that price, it's well worth it to buy the car and replace the bearing.

It wasn't always like this. Before the car even came out, the consensus on it was that it would probably only serve as a good GT car because of it's low power. When it did come out, everyone exclaimed that of course it was super fun to drive but was definitely lacking power.

The fanatics came in later. Now if you say it's low in power, you get flamed and told that you should buy a challenger.

So maybe I am the only know who took note that it's named after the Corolla? I mean not exactly the bastion of power and it is, after all, naturally asperated. That said, the chassis is built for tight suspension and corner at maximum speed. I think a lot of people are looking for something that this car wasn't exactly built for. For me I have always been impressed with cornering ability and have previously been enthralled with AWD. Then this little rwd coupe comes along and upends my paradigm.
