It's even smaller. Less efficient. Less hp/lb. And looks worse. Ide lower the frs about 2 grand to start but that would be about it. Miata starting at around 18-19 but couldn't justify more than that new especially with the twins on the streets now. Why anyone would get a new miata over a new FRS/BRZ nowadays is a mystery to me.

okay well redline and willingness to rev are not the same so i dont really know what to say about that. lower center of gravity means next to nothing by itself. also, i would love to hear what the cog of the new miata is. my 90 miata has a lower cog and so does every corvette for the last 30 years. even if the cog for the frs was as impressive as you make it seem, it most certainly doesnt trump all. i, for one, would take the 300lb weight reduction the miata has.

im not anti frs. you want quantitative data and the frs is worse than just about every other sports car when you look at things that way. its a horrible way to make an argument for the frs. thinking the frs is 10k more car than the miata shows that you dont know much about the frs, dont know much about the miata or just dont know much about cars in general. things like convertible tops and double a arm suspension add significantly to price. what about the frs is 10k more valuable?

I have been a Mazda enthusiast since 1985. I have had an RX-7, RX-8 or MX-5 since then until I bought the Subaru manufactured FR-S. After 6 months with the FR-S, I can see a difference in build quality between the Miata and FR-S. The suspension is better in the Miata. The drivetrain is better in the Miata as well. The Styling in the FR-S ranks almost as high to me as the NSX. I had one of those as well. Since I weigh very heavily on engineering and build quality, I am seriously considering going back to the Miata. My economic situation doesn't allow me to have both, otherwise I would have them both.
Neither of these cars is to be frowned on. They are both a lot of bang for the buck. John |

I love Mazda. But the miata screams chick car to me from its styling. I just can't seem to fall in love with it.
The RX-8 on the other hand. Well I wish I never sold my R3. |

If you've ever driven one of those quickly you'd know it wasn't exactly a chick car, though Emma Peel looked good on one...wait a tic, Emma Peel looked good in anything, too bad we never saw her in nothing. M Appeal? Get it? Those Brits with their sly sense of humour eh. M Appeal and her side kick John Steed, hung like a ? Maybe? |

Coming from other car forums, it's funny to see Twin drivers calling a Miata a chick car. Plenty of folks disparage the Twins for being feminine and a less than stellar performance deal.
I love it, enjoyed my test drive and have been waiting for an STI version, but would be perfectly happy with a current one. It reminds me very much of my previous Miata. Thinking that it's somehow different or superior is just silly though. If Mazda gets the ND right, at around 2,200 pounds, somewhere north of 160 hp and continues to have the massive track support, I may just wait myself right out of the Twins and back into another Miata.

The GT-86, FR-S, and BRZ are ALL manufactured in Subaru's main Gunma plant.
