Incorrect, the Coupe version was the excellent and better value Bertone GT and GTV. That model left the North American market long before the Spider died but it was the same car underneath: Giulietta. Pininfarina did the Spider.

The replacement for Bertone's Coupe was the Alfetta GTV6, done by ItalDesign, and it is true that no Spider version of that car was built.

And just btw, those fwd successors based on 164 running gear, in Coupe and Spider form, were very popular and great drivers cars.

The 4C is actually a Ferrari/Maserati build just like the 8C and not intended as a mainstream car, far too expensive.

A properly sorted MX5 is a better drivers car than either of the twins.

A set of coilovers is all that is required. The MX5 uses correct suspension geometry.

The trouble with the twins is the rear suspension geometry is just wrong. Whether the aftermarket can or will develop a solution remains to be seen.

Possibly all it is is the very tight Torsen diff. I suspect this car would be quicker around a lap with an open diff. Otherwise it must be toe change in roll that is doing it.

I don't see how this makes sense at all. Old people struggle getting into regular cars. Why would they buy a car so low they can't get out of?

I've always seen the Miata as a chick car. It's a blast to drive but always has that feminine feel about it. It's gotten better in recent years, but I'm hoping the new model goes more neutral.

Still waiting on an official reveal on the new remodel version that should be out next year. If they get it turbo charged (1.6-1.8L) and resemble anything like the rest of the new model line up I think it will be a sick little competitor. Never though they were worth what you had to pay though. It's amazing how expensive those tiny little cars could get.

The last six Miatas I've seen were all driven by old guys. I don't know why they would want to drive a small car that would give them a hard time getting in and out of. The only way we can answer this is if someone is willing to ask..

I found a few pics of MX-5 coupes and saved them to my "cars" archive. I think Mazda should pick that up again. I also ran across pictures of an S2000 coupe concept, a Pontiac Solstice coupe concept, and an MX-5 three-door "shooting brake".

Hopefully we start seeing more of these. :-)

Up to over 27k. That is like no car for the money. I figured $16-$22k new but I guess not

The same reason we like driving an FT86, because it kicks ass.

no way... i'm the biggest miata fan you'll ever meet and i wouldn't do it. the miata should never be a coupe. that's not what it is for. it's a lightweight, rwd, 2 seat convertible sports car, and always should be.

if you'd consider jumping ship to a miata i highly recommended it, only you don't have to jump ship. save up a few grand and buy yourself a clean na (if you can find one) or nb, and keep the fr-s. best of both worlds . miatas are like wine... you want it aged to perfection. the new stuff just isn't the same.
