Realize a house payment, life insurance, multiple vehicles, & being married all are good things for your insurance rate.

Those of us who are urban, single vehicle, unmarried apartment dwellers are going to pay quite a bit more to insure our cars than you married types

Is this a good point to mention it's supposed to be about 70 degrees here today too?

My insurance went up for next year by $280. Not sure why exactly since I don't have any additional points. Going to assume normal rate increase and maybe rate increase for our cars.

Well, I don't own an 86, but here's an interesting comparison. Also, holy cow, some of you pay a lot for insurance.

Coverage: (both cars)
$100k/300k coverage (incl. uninsured motorist)
$500 coll. deductible
$100 comp. deductible (mostly for auto glass purposes)
Roadside assistance

Me: 23, male, single, sole driver, no tickets/accidents

Cars:
2007 Subaru Outback 2.5i M/T (120k mi)
Silver
Driven 12k-14k mi/yr

2006 Porsche Cayman S M/T (51k mi)
Red
Driven ~8k/yr

My total?
$471/6 months, or $78/mo (covers both cars)

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention. This is with Geico.

I also do not believe upping your insurance coverage is worth it. 1 million in coverage as you stated should be more than enough if you drive carefully. Now if your one of these idiots who claims they need to turn off traction control just to drive down the street, then you probably need Extra coverage and should paint your car pink with a sign that says royal dumb ass. That's another issue though. My opinion has always been insurance is a waste of money. I understand what you pay is based on a bunch of difference circumstances. I posted my age, deductible, location, marital status, and driving record a few posts up. I also stated that I got a bunch of discounts due to all those circumstances.
accidents happen bro, and they can happen in the blink of an eye.. no matter how good of a driver you are and it takes getting into one to truly understand what it's like

i'm going to throw a hypothetical situation at you as to why i've chosen my liability choices

say you're driving down a busy road and some ass hat decides to cut you off extremely close and then has to brake quickly, and you have no time to stop and therefore run into the back of him

now you have no witnesses because nobody wanted to stop and help you out

now it turns out buddy is some kind of rich doctor and he is now injured from the accident and your 1 million dollar coverage doesn't cover his costs

guess what?, you're at fault because you hit him even though it was completely his fault and it's your word against his.. did the couple hundred dollars you saved over the years make that 1 million dollar liability worth it?

driving in my city i've had a couple people do exactly that same thing to me before.. i was just lucky they didn't have to brake fast or i would have ended up in the back of them
Idiots are everywhere and there's nothing you can do to stop them
and it's always better to be safe than sorry
