Again, you're misinterpreting what I'm saying! Lookup lean manufacturing (fundamental practice of Daihatsu/Fuji Heavy) <-- as an effect, not everybody will get the configuration they want right away. That's normal for any new car launch but it'll catch up. Nothing to get worked up about.

Any other clarifications?

Subaru/Toyota will produce whatever amount that will yield them the most profits given their current restrictions.

They have the ability to control their supply, but they will need to accurately forecast the demand, which they probably already have an idea given the Japanese preorders.

This overproducing/underproducing talk is a bunch of bs. What's the most important thing for a business? That's profit.

*ahem*

PROFIT = Toyota Production System
#1 thing TPS strives to avoid = Waste of overproduction (the largest waste)

I wonder if I can convince my dealer to get me X amount over invoice and lock it in and say that I am 100% getting it...

I don't believe dealers are worried about the initial demand of this car, I doubt they'd want to be in some kind of locking agreement with one customer.

It seems unlikely that they could just move too many employees to the other factories without changing the physical size of them. This is their largest factory so it doesn't make a lot of sense to be producing only their lowest volume car. Something else will be built there...probably the new wrx for one but that isn't a lot of cars either.

Either way, I think we have found enough evidence for people to feel a little more confident that the US will receive more than 1200 cars per year.

This thread has gotten pretty far off topic as well. The whole questions for soa topic is certainly deserving of its own thread.
I was just saying that they have the capability to produce as many BRZs as Imprezas if they wanted to. They have more employees than the Impreza factory and more room, and as of right now, it's the only car being produced there. They could increase production a huge amount if they want to. Judging from the initial pre-order rush in Japan, I'd guess they already have increased production.

When I get back to Canada I'm planning on putting down a deposit. Currently in the process of talking to 3 different dealers to figure out which one gets my money. I really don't get the point of not putting down a deposit unless you're really strapped for cash. As long as it's refundable anyway which it should be.

He actually says Late April or Early May. That would be pretty sweet if it were true. Also should mean, pricing and pre ordering should be right around the corner...
