$500 Deposit = First on List
So I reached out to three of my local dealers a few weeks back. Sent them each the same email explaining my interest in the BRZ, which one I wanted and what I could do to secure one. All three got back, but each had slightly different responses:
I'm considering choosing dealer 3 but with one caveat - I plan on going through my own bank for financing. I don't have a problem putting down $500 so long as they give me something in writing. So what do you all think? Is the $500 plus potential interest I'd lose be worth it? My heart says yes. My head is somewhat conflicted. But damn, it'd sure be nice to have this thing broken in and ready to roll all summer! |
I'm quiet confused myself I live in the same area as you, and there's a subaru guy here on the forum from a dealer saying his dealer has 4 with deposits on the list already. Then 2 other places and got the we don't have alot of information and their is no information pre ordering at this point. I need to call the Scion and see what happens with them too.
And... to be honest I'm in the same position as you, because... I know you should pre order now to get the car as soon as possible with out fighting but at the same time... none of it makes sense. Edit: I think the ninja mods got him .. i don't see his thread any more @__@ in the Mid A area |
Curious about this too. In my mind, putting down a deposit to hold an order spot is just that - a reserved spot. No need for a credit app.
Restaurants don't charge me when I call to make the reservation. I pay after the dinner haz been eated! |

Interest on $500? What is that like $.15 at the current interest rate. That shouldn't be an issue. What should be is if it is refundable (better be). Don't worry about the interest.

Can you get him to commit to no more than MSRP, or lower. (in writing)
|
My dealership didn't need any credit application. Just the deposit.
|
Also, if you write a check many times the dealership won't cash it until you take delivery of the car.

Deposit
No need for a credit app if you are handling your own Financing. That will only be another inquiry to Potentially lower your credit score.

I wouldn't fill out a credit app to get on a list, that's for sure. |
