i agree location is a big important factor that is missing but anyways here are my stats for my frs:

montly payment: 103/month
company: progressive
coverage: full coverage with 100k/300k limits
deductible:500 deductible
other options: car rental
age: 28yo
sex: male
status: single
location of residence: broward county Florida
tickets/ points: many tickets to count but 0 points
accidents at fault: 0

compared to other cars i've recently had and other cars i quoted while shopping for this car, this car is actually pretty cheap to insure.

Your monthly premium is more than my monthly car payment. I'd switch out if I was you. That's highway robbery, literally.

Anyways,
I have Nationwide
I pay around 155/month
I'm 21/single
I've had about 3 tickets, none which were reported due to taking the driving classes.

Unless the "similar scenario" person is in the same ZIP code as you, what you pay for insurance to a driver with the same driving history will be different than someone that's in Alaska, for example.

Insurance is so much more than what you as an individual are, risk-wise.

He's 19. Anything other than a beater that's < 100 hp is going to get him into a sane insurance rate. That, or be carried on his parent's insurance.

Once he's out of college it'll go down some, and more after 25.

My wife is the one the insurance company considers the primary driver on my FRS - they said it's cheaper for her as the primary on my car and me as the primary on hers... anyway, with her as the primary

-24 yo female / married
-Whiteout
-State Farm
-3 speeding tickets (none in last 24 months which is the timeframe my insurance agent told me matters)
-Full coverage / $500 deductable

$120 per month! Too damn much!

A lot of insurance companies will jack your rate up as a parent if you have teens of driving age in the household that don't have their own vehicle and insurance. Back in highschool I couldn't even get a drivers license because our insurer informed my parents they'd receive an increase in monthly cost on the vehicles because they automatically assumed I'd be driving them. Increase was high enough to raise my parent's eyebrows. 2 luxury vehicles, one high performance roadster. Their assessment is correct, I would of driven them and there's a good chance I would of done something stupid.

I didn't get my first car till college, and it was a beater 92 Honda Accord. Drove it for 8 years. The FR-S is my first car purchase. In hindsight, I saved a boatload of money over the last decade.

My parents put me on their insurance when I got my license, but they didn't have expensive cars, just a 1987 Honda Accord (bought new in 87) and a 1985 Nissan Kingcab (bought new in 1985). So, insurance went up, but not drastically for them.

My first car wasn't until Spring of 2005, when I was given (out of necessity) a 2005 Forester. As my parents had told me many years ago, "Son, when you need a car, you'll have one." They defined "need." And when I wouldn't be able to borrow one of their cars and needed reliable transportation for a job, that's when it became "needful." And the only reason I got a new car was b/c they couldn't find a used Forester and with me all the way across the country, they weren't about to let me be driving something that had reliability issues.

Firestorm 6-MT
Geico
Atleast 15 speeding tickets in 4 states. 10 accidents (surprisingly, never my fault !) 3 suspended licenses. and 1 totaled vehicle... by fire, ofcourse.
Full coverage

BTW, most of that was during my younger, reckless days. I'm an old fart now.
