Achieving Boxer Rumble In Cali

Sup guys just got my cat-back put on a week ago and love the thing. However at some point I'd like to get more rumble out of it. Any legal way of doing this in California yet? Only catted header ive seen is by FA20club and it ain't cheap. I'd rather not go through the trouble of swapping headers come inspection time especially because im going to have to pay to get my header installed. If anyone from Cali can chime in on this it would much appreciated.

Also recommendations of shops in San Diego or Riverside County that wont break the bank for header installation? Looking to have more work done in the future too

Thanks for the help!

Even catted headers are not legal in CA... must be stock or CARB certified. You can swap it in an hour or so with basic tools.

You have 5 years till you smog it. Most people won't even have this car in 5 years.

You can't replace the cats on a new car with aftermarket cats. So as others said, even a catted header won't pass smog in CA.

DK if there's an UEL catted header yet but you'll need an UEL header to get the rumble. It won't be legal but if you find a catted UEL and keep your stock front pipe you should easily pass the sniffer test. Since its catted there shouldn't be a code either but like others have said the headers are a pretty easy swap and you'll only have to do it once every other year in 5 years.

Inspection time won't happen for another 5 years for our cars, in CA. I live in San Jose, and I am going to go for a catless header - most likely the vishnu header (OFH). I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah I am going to keep my stock front pipe. Only catted UEL that ive found is by FA20club. I cant justify paying 1100 bucks for a header especially when borla is half that price.

Looking like run illegal or nada

It's alot higher quality than borla tho but if you aren't looking for performance and just the sound borla will be fine.

Smog is 5 years but the moment you get pulled over for a loud exhaust you may get screwed. Cops can still do visual inspections if they think you modded it to far.

Yeah it may just be too much of a risk for me to take. Still undecided. Rather just have a catted UEL seems "safer" but too expensive for my budget

Buy now swap later problem solved. As far as catted or cattless both are illegal go cattless its cheaper.
