if you live in a small town and have a perfect driving record you will have one of the best rates in your state/province and or country my rates would be approx $500 cheaper annually if i was still living in my home town |

$53 per month.
25 $1000 deductible, Married, no accidents, no tickets, great credit. I want some of u to know u pay more for insurance than I pay for my car per month. That is ridiculous. I would sell the car if my insurance payment was over $100 per month. The car is not worth that. To the op assuming the same insurance for 5 years, you will end up paying 15600 in insurance.... Does that make sense? |

I couldn't get your rate even with perfect credit, perfect record & driving a 1990's station wagon. Because... Phoenix. My rate is just fine for the BRZ. The STI was $190/mo. That was too high for me. $168 is doable. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

I was paying $220/mo on my 05' Toyota Corolla, the car makes a difference but not that big of a difference..... According to Progressive, my policy will most likely cut in 1/2 by the end of the 6 months, because 2 of the tickets on my record won't be showing up anymore. |

How is that possible? Because you live in a town of 500 in Arkansas or something? All of your attributes work against you, hence, you're a 25 year old and a male - yet you pay $53/month - whats the secret?

No I live in the largest city in the state, little rock. Being married reduces my cost. Owning my own home reduces the cost, having life insurance reduces my cost,...I got life insurance because it actually saved me an additional $300 per year. I understand paying more for insurance, I've payed my own insurance since I turned 18, at those times I drove an old car, 93 civic and only had liability. Now i understand some places have a higher cost of living, but seriously there was a guy on here that said he payed like $400+ per month... There is no way in hell I would pay that much for anything, heck with that much money I would have bought an sti too.

such as age which can play a big factor driving experience deductibles type of car sometimes life throws a few too many curve balls to a few unlucky people that get into several accidents that they got blamed for even if it wasn't completely their fault and then there are those of us like myself that live in a place that have a government run insurance company called ICBC. They dictate our rates, bend us all over and there is nothing we can do about it because they are the only game in town living in Metro Vancouver, which one of the fastest growing metropolitan cities in Canada we have a lot of condensed traffic and as such more accidents happen and our general insurance rates go up a lot more than other cities 100km away and because there are a lot of rich people in this city i also opted for the 2 million liability over the standard 1 million which again increases rates before my accident 2 years ago i had the top rates for driving in this city with my 04 Civic which was just around $1500 annually next time i renew my insurance i will be back down to normal with an increase of about $200 more for the type of vehicle i've chosen to purchase one guy in our local ft86 club was paying $4500 per year (which is absolutely insane and uncalled for) but because he is 18, and driving a sports car in a large city.. our insurance company bends him over due to statistics tell me again how you seem to know everything? i really wish we had choices in our insurance companies Last edited by executor; 11-25-2013 at 01:05 AM. |

Know everything? Seriously. I never claimed that. I simply stated paying more per month for insurance than you pay for your car is not worth it in my opinion. Infact in my opinion paying more than 1/3 of your monthly car payment for insurance is too much. I also do not believe upping your insurance coverage is worth it. 1 million in coverage as you stated should be more than enough if you drive carefully. Now if your one of these idiots who claims they need to turn off traction control just to drive down the street, then you probably need Extra coverage and should paint your car pink with a sign that says royal dumb ass. That's another issue though. My opinion has always been insurance is a waste of money. I understand what you pay is based on a bunch of difference circumstances. I posted my age, deductible, location, marital status, and driving record a few posts up. I also stated that I got a bunch of discounts due to all those circumstances. |

Move to New Hampshire in the northeast US. Auto insurance isn't required by law.
I pay about $76/month. 27 years old, Louisiana (some of the highest rates in the country). Not married, but girlfriend is on my insurance so I have multicar discount, as well as a Progressive Snapshot discount. I used to have a Camaro and a 240sx, so I put the snapshot device in the Camaro and just drove it on the weekends, using my 240sx for everything else. Got a 27% discount on my insurance.

My rates were only that high when i was a teenager. Of course then I was in an 86 escort L and an 85 olds calais, nothing ridiculous, but i still had speeding tickets. Now 30 married, one kid, Charleston SC, relatively shitty credit score (650). Live in military housing, essentially the same as renting, life insurance through the navy, and drivers ed class in high school. I pay about $135/ month for the raven FRS and a 2002 Explorer Eddie Bauer edition, full coverage on both underinsured and uninsured coverage, $250 deductible, rental car the whole deal through Geico. No tickets in the last oh 8 years I think. Been pulled over tons of times by MPs but none of that crap goes on your record.
