Well that's obvious but this is, after all, a Turismo v. Forza thread so I deliberately didn't mention anything PC related.

Just my thoughts though after spending years at race tracks myself (yes, in real life, not in the game lol).
There should be a sarcasm tag, lol.

I haven't played GT since GT2. Forza 3 and 4 did it for me. I'll be skipping 5 as I'm not picking up a launch console from either platform.

I do appreciate the PC suggestion though. I'll definitely try that before I buy a console.

I do feel like I should still make a GT vs Forza decision, since both wheels work with PC as well. Just because I'm willing to spend money doesn't mean I want to waste it, after all.

It's not a fair comparison IMO. GT is focused towards simulation while Forza is an arcade-type game with its endless customization. While they are both racing games, they do have their differences. I always end up getting both and playing the crap out of them.

Okay as much as I like Forza, I ran into this awesome feature about GT6.

Similarly are the PC sims as approachable(IE, start with easy stuff before you get dumped into a 600hp viper tuned for easy oversteer.)? Since I don't play the high end stuff, a lot of my replay ability will be rating to win the more approachable races with progressively weaker cars.
In iRacing you can start out in a MX-5 or a low power Formula or Spec racer. It is much less of a "game" than any of the console offerings. It is much more of a racing simulator. Cost is $15 per month. Give it a try. I think there is a free trial and you can size yourself up driving against other rookies in a MX-5 on many North American race tracks like Mid-Ohio or Lime Rock.

My biggest complaint was the lack of steering wheel support. If that doesn't change for Forza 5 I will not be buying an Xbox One or F5.
Well good for their physics improvement, I guess. Problem was Forza 2 was so downright terrible that I will never take them seriously. GT4 on the PS2 was better.

Once Mass Effect came out on PS3, and GT5 fiiiiinaly came out (OK, but after the decade of development it way underperformed expectations), I had no reason to keep my 360.

To me reading about new Forza being an awesome sim, is like hearing Backstreet Boys have reformed and are now a critically acclaimed rock band, and the members are some of the most technically skilled guitarist and drummers around. To difficult to wrap my head around such a ridiculous sounding event. Even if it were true.

You should give them more credit. I too was a GT fan but after Forza 4, I couldn't bring myself to play Turismo at all, it wasn't even in the same ball park for me.

Microsoft is responsible for the software in the ECU's in all the Formula 1 cars and they have a very tight relationship with MacLaren. A lot of this has trickled down to Turn 10 (in-house @ MS on the Redmond Campus) and is part of the reason the physics models improved dramatically especially regarding tire and aero physics. I believed they used the CFD tech to help develop the aero modeling.

But alas, I'm buying neither as I don't have the time to enjoy either one.

If you go the PC route and would be interested in a rally sim, Richard Burns Rally is all you need to know - a decade later and still nothing touches it for a rally sim....

I'm sorry, but I've played Forza 4 and it cracks me up to think that it has better driving dynamics than GT5 did. Nor that it was more realistic that GT5. Permanent driving Aids in Forza that you can't turn off, isn't my idea of being more realistic. That and having inaccurate track models (Nurburg was like 12 miles longer, I think it was, in Forza than the real thing)

And to compare Forza 5 to GT6....GT6 crushes it with this feature alone.

Except for that whole "probably won't see daylight in the USA" part.

I hope they get the car exhaust sounds right in GT6 and allow for more customization. That's the biggest thing Forza has over GT6.

I loved Forza on Xbox, but I'll never buy a 360 or Xbox One
