Yeah I don't think it works the same way, also it likely has the thing where they need to fill up the orders from the home market first. Which some how was much of a bigger success then they imagined. Sales and orders are close to full over there, with the BRZ and 86 only about a hundred units apart.

Also... it's Not AS1 they're not selling the prototype camouflaged cars It's ZN6 and ZC6.

If he became a top salesman I'm sure there would be plenty of very nice perks for him that doesn't involve much money. Let's say 25 buyers at $300 above invoice (which goes to him) that's 7.5k from profit (which isn't terrible) plus whatever else the company decides to give him. A raise perhaps? Extra vacation time? Free new vehicle? Promotion? $40k bonus?

In a business setting... its more volume you sell than it is how much you profit (from my learning of working with my parents who own their own business).
This, when explained by you Giccin, appears to benefit all parties. However, it is a short-term goal.

The dealership can definitely receive a large amount of initial cash along with a salesperson, but in a dealership environment that logic cannot be used. Projection-based dealerships that look for year over year growth can be weary on taking the first big bite on a brand-new model.

The main challenge is the amount of orders needed to fulfill after a successful sales year.

Just one example:

FY12: 30 units; FY13: Subaru wants dealership to order 50.

If that dealership doesn't cannot sell 50 units the next year, the ability to liquify the assets (cars) will adversely affect the dealership's profitability. And the salesperson might not be able to come close to the year they had prior and (at most dealerships) will be held to previous sales numbers.

Sadly, dealerships aren't in it for the enthusiast. They want 'Da Benjamin's'

I remember reading plenty from Nissan and their recall on the GT-Rs. Lol

I just can't see why they couldn't just keep pumping out more cars each month. Frank (dealer man) told me that the reason for the 2 cars per dealership for the entire year was basically a "Needs to see how much people want this car."

The "how much" stuck with me for the entire conversation.

Good point. I guess I should just continue viewing dealers as scammers, thieves, and greedy folk until I can be proved wrong. Lol

What a terrible mid-day event for Vagina Day. :/

Aside from the fact that Toyota is suffering for supply problems from SE asia due to natural disasters, and from filling out the orders in the home country first. I don't see why they can't keep making them either... things definitely don't add up.

Whoa whoa whoa! GREEDY dealers are wrong. It's very tough to find ethical dealers who care about the community, I agree. I also believe that this important of a car for us is just another opportunity a dealer to build their margin additional to the unit.

And pretty terrible V-Day along with that bad news...My lady is in Italy now and I won't see her for a month

No way that can be true. Subaru and Toyota don't invest tens of millions of dollars in producing a new car without having a pretty good idea of how well they think it is going to sell in each market. They pay for research studies and focus groups, etc. etc.

Besides they can't learn anything about the demand by selling 1200 cars. They know they will be gone instantly. Hell, Pontiac sold more than 1200 Aztecs in its final year and there wasn't very much demand for that albatross.

Correct, and selling literally a years worth of supply in a GB with great pricing is a bad business move for the dealer.

Like I said, I understand why the deal I had got shutdown after three of us. IMO it's the same reason the SoCal dealer just did this.

I'm not buying it. Two per dealer for the year, 1200 or so cars, I just don't see that happening.

Yep. That's how I read it immediately. And someone confirmed now that those "lucky 2" will get to pay a MARKUP on the car instead of invoice+300. Fucking lying greedy scumbag dealer.

I wasn't making the iPhone example as a perfect illustration. The point to take away is that with limited supply or increase demand/interest you will have an increase in prices (as shown by secondary sale of Apple products at launch). Same principle applies here: increase interest in the car (look at this forum and all the reviews) along with limited supply means that dealers won't budge on pricing. Group buys will fall apart as dealers want to get as much profit on the car when it firsts arrives as they know that once the supply and demand has been stabilized the cars will sell for invoice to MSRP prices. They can only make a large profit the first several months after launch. This will happen in this case due to the reasons mentioned above.
