if it is to JIS standards then it is half a tank of fuel and no driver (same as SAE standards) the German DIN standard is 90% fuel tank, the EEC standard (EU) is DIN with 68kg driver and 7 kg of luggage.
Given the 1250kg I would expect it is to JIS so wet but without driver. the GVW is 1470kg not 1450 so you have 220kg or 485lb for all the occupants and luggage. That means with just 2 guys going to a trackday with a spare set of wheels and a few tools you will be way over the limit. |

You can offset 20lbs of weight quick with a set of Enkei RPF01
compare to stock wheels.

http://www.unep.org/transport/gfei/a...s.asp#Japanese From there actually, i can see that the japanese usually underrate their cars by a factor of 1.2~1.3 (keep in mind american measurements are labeled CAFE) Looking at the JC08 testing chart vs the EPA testing chart, its clear that the JC08 uses alot more hard acceleration and city driving... Below is the japanese test cycle and below is the EPA City and Highway test cycle Its pretty clear that the japanese tests have ridiculous amounts of idle time lol. Thats probably why the prius is rated so high - it has that auto shut off feature. different cultures/cities, different needs; and the fuel test cycles show that. Japan is more crowded with a smaller need to drive fast, whereas most parts of north america have less cars, more space = faster speeds and less idling. i think its safe to say that this chart is more realistic for a non hybrid car... So a conversion from JC08 to CAFE (epa combined) would be JC08 * ~1.2 or 1.3 = CAFE. Thus with 29.17 MPG, JC08, we get ~35- 37MPG EPA ratings.. ... hopefully

I'm pretty sure without AWD Subaru engines will get comparable mpg's to other engines with similar size and power output. For example my 09' Forester with AWD, 2.5 liter gets the same mpg rating as a 09' Honda CRV with AWD, 2.4 liter. Honda inline 4s are known for getting good milage right?

I can't believe you can only put 440lb in the car. My Accent weighs under 2300lb and it's GVM is over 3400lb. 1200lb difference and only 106hp on tap. I've traveled (short distances) with 6 passengers and a trunk full of luggage.

It's' not really an issue though. Not exactly a family trip car. I'm sure the girls would rather hop in the van with the DVD Player and room for the dog to move around. :P |
