Hmmmm, I've tried 76 and chevron and shell, even the sunol super gas 94. So far Shell is working for me. What "cheap" brand are you using? Shell is typically 10 cents more.

Shell has nothing to do with it man. I had my pump replaced last week with the new part number and I put nothing but Shell 93 octane in my car. It's chirping up a storm now. It's the ethanol content in the mix.

Typically Arco and Valero (not necessarily cheaper but conveniently located) with some 76 here and there. Every once and awhile one of those sketchy no-name stations, maybe three times over 16k miles. When I had the crickets they were intermittent, I couldn't correlate their strength with anything other than the temp gauge had to be over the 'C' (not even all the way warmed up) and those two tanks of Shell were louder than the tanks immediately before and after, that could easily be a fluke though.

They're gone now and I have no need to change the pump that came with the car, even when they were in full force I could easily live with them.

The original pump lasted a little less than 500 miles.
The replacement is now at about 1200 with no crickets to be heard.
I'm still getting my 93 octane gas at the same two places I always have.

Is this for 2013's and part of the 2014's, or needed for both? Btw, I don't even known what this "crickets" thing is.

I....think I got my crickets today. It was faint at first...like a squeaky hinge. And it only happens at stop lights. They're not as loud as real crickets, but the similarity is unnerving enough to make me believe I've got them.

You will find the higher the outside temp, the faster and louder they will become apparent at idle. You won't hear it under load, only at idle. Phx in the summer I make it 2-3 blocks before its audible inside the car with the windows up and the ac blasting....now, and once its colder, I can drive a few miles on the 202 before they are audible.

My new pump is chirping loudly at 34-40 degrees outside once the car warms up. I can't get away from them and I think this is worse than my pump that was on the car a year ago.

NO CRICKETS. It's like they packed their bags and left. I'm so content right now... I can't even explain. I have no idea about this next part number... But I have the most up to date installed and needless to say... I'm happy.

When I pull up to a security gate, I don't feel like I paid 24k for a hooptie anymore.
No crickets still? Getting my 3rd o one next week.

Yeah.... I think I'm going to have a new pump ordered again. I'll give it one more chance. If this happens again, I give up until the next major change.

So are you saying the car needs a fuel chiller?

The pump that is on the car now was installed a year ago?
You need to get it replaced again. I've been told by the shop foreman at the dealership I go to that the new ones are different. They don't change the part number so the old stock gets used up, even if it means some people coming in twice.
