9 inch club, come on in...
Minds out of the gutter ladies and gents.
So I just pulled the trigger on some dirt cheap 17x9"s from Discount Tire Direct, Drag DR-38 in 17x9 et.38, for $358 shipped including Discount Tire's $50 off instant savings they're running now on some wheels. It was too cheap for me to not give them a try. ![]() Initial review of the wheel, from what I can find online, puts the weight at around 22.3lbs, according to the manufacturer and online retailers, so a little heavier than the OEM wheels. A lot of the WRX/STI guys on NASIOC are running them, and so far the reviews are good. Anyways, I'm looking to hear how guys with 9" wheels are handling track conditions. Under extreme compression, are there any issues with tires rubbing the fender anywhere? I'd just like to hear back from anyone running a 9" on track, along with the offset, suspension mods, and any issues you encountered. Also looking to see what kind of camber you all are able to get safely, without touching the spring perches on the strut. I am torn between running a 235/40 or a 245/40 Pilot Super Sport (currently running 215 PSS on OEM wheels). Considering the RS3's as well, which are a little cheaper, but I'm hoping to get a year out of a set of tires, and not sure I will with the RS3's (10-15 track events per year, with about 5-8k street miles in between). Suspension wise, right now I am on OEM suspension, looking into RCE Yellows shortly, and running Whiteline camber bolts up front with about -1.6 camber. |

I also know the tires themselves vary, and find the PSS tires to be a bit wider than others in the same size. The PSS in 215 was a bit wider than the OEM Primacy HP 215 tires. |

I'm selling one of my 17x8 setups soon. Probably the Kosei's since I want to keep the RPF1s. And some other BRZ stuff maybe too. Kraut shitbox is going to take all my money

lol, kraut shitbox. I had a 95 M3 that I picked up for $1g and flipped it before I was into the "track scene".... shoulda kept it. Consumables/maintenance should be fun on that thing compared to the Integras and BRZ! |

Im all about experimenting; buddy of mine is running a 245 PSS on a 17x8 and says its too much tire, especially in the rear, and cant get the car to rotate properly, which is leaning me towards a smaller size.

And it's alpine white over black Next to Avus over black that's my favorite ![]() They are K4Rs.. they look like K4Rs I need to clean them and take pics. Not sure what else will go. Suspension for sure. Maybe intake. Oil cooler adapter also. Gauge holder as well. Dunno what else. Probably not brakes but maybe some brake pads (none of which would be of value to you except maybe BNIB AP C300 rear pads, the rest would be used AP C300 front pads for the essex kit, maybe some CL RC6Es used as well, etc.. not sure what else I have laying around).

I ran 17x9 +45 RPF1' s with245/40 BFG Rivals. I'm also on Megan racing easy street coil overs. No rubbing on anything. I don't know my camber. I just pushed it to camber as much is it could go then tightened the bolts.
Your offset is more aggressive so you are more likely than I to rub. |

Yeah, the car is going on jack stands soon so I can send them off to Eibach to get rebuilt. They will also be getting OTS rate springs put on. I'll use them on the street for a bit afterwards (you can drive the car with them once they are back) and then I'll probably sell them. Between the M3 as a DD and the GS-R as a track car.. there's not much need for the BRZ to have 2 way adjustable coilovers.. hell there's not much need for it to have anything beyond stock, which is what it's going back to.
