While I'm thinking about the above bass drop. Gary did you ever setup that windows tablet? I'm going to be doing a nexus 7 install as my head unit today. And I think I worked out a very clean install. Let me know if you are interested.

I haven't but only because I can't find software that works well on a windows environment. Right now I'm doing basic data logging on my iPhone using ODB Fusion.

So what you said is reasonably correct, but the alt also puts out about 13.8v not 12v.
I thought right away, (after I posted this) that I should have done the math on the (V) the car actually charges at, and guessed at at least 120 amp alternator. I can tell from all the reading that this is a tough crowd.

So it's more like 2.4hp, that the alternator could possibly claw back, if it was not shielded by the esc battery packs, and had to re-supply all the energy back, at 100% of the alternators capacity, until the system was fully recharged. However, some or alot of the time after you have "hit the switch", so to speak, you are going to have to slow down! That is when you get "free" energy recovery, and that alternater can suck the power back in, just at the time when it will be asking for peak current demand. Just thinking, there are a lot of times when I'm driving, that I have'nt just gone all out, and I still have to slow down.

I don't recall any such energy recovery feature on my Mazda 626 Turbo (ancient footnote to history) car, and while conventional superchargers certainly increase power output... They never give anything back, they are
always a drag.

I haven't seen the math, but I'll bet this is a significant part of the calculations of the relative efficiencies of this and other boost systems.

I'm going to create a post. With links to amazon etc. I made it as simple as possible and cheap as possible. I'll tag it here when I'm done. But out of pocket cost is about $300

Peak power consumed by the recharge is ~ 330 watts, regulated.
So 0.44 HP ideal.... ~ 0.75 HP with alternator efficiency losses.

Thank You! This is good to know! Less than 1hp of claw back, ever! Maybe a tiny bit more than turning on the rear window defroster...

Thanks to having veteran's day off I was able to get some shop time in and completed the mounting plate for my compressor.

I did some bench testing and mechanically it's working great. The brushless controller I'm currently using is giving me a little trouble. Stalling on startup and cutting out at higher RPM. I suspect it just isn't up to the task. I knew that I would be pushing its limits though so no surprise there. It does move a lot of air and seems to create some decent pressure when the outlet is restricted.

I've ordered a 200 amp ESC hopefully it will be what's needed so I can continue testing. The next step for me will be finding all the right connectors to fit it to the intake.

Wrong thread?
