Some might say they might have missed the boat but I feel like with the ever increasing aftermarket products that are coming out for the twins they still have a chance to make a really good ap for the twins. There was a confirmed prototype they where working on but no word on if its been scrapped. It could still be in the works for all we know. The point of this thread was to figure out if anyone would be interested in the COBB access port, and seems like we got a lot of interest ! Im going to be speaking to some of the corporate people at COBB, once they get back from sema . I got there personnel number from a friend who was at Sema. So will see how it goes. Its never to late.
I looks like your poll was not set properly. You should have added another option - "Would buy it" as it seems that lots of those voting "yes" won't ever buy it as they already own some other tuning solution. )

The more options out there, the more they have to compete which means lower prices for the consumers. I say go for it.

Saying they should produce it because more options is better for the consumer is going to convince them to not make it.

There are plenty of options already and if they make this they have to compete with them and will probably have a small profit margin to compete.

That is why they are sticking with turbo motors. They have a proven history with them and it is [relatively] easy to tune a stock turbo car to add more power than an NA one.

Not trying to knock cobb but that is the reality of the situation and why they don't have a product on the market for this car.

Well, when you look at the fact that they clearly have their proprietary hardware and software solutions in place.

How much in terms of resources would it have cost them to tap into this market?

I mean, romraider/open source is close to being up and running for the average moron and thats being done by people in their spare time.

Cobb is great I would buy their accessport in a heartbeat

I would have gone with them for my RX-8 however they sold the rights of tuning to a guy.... He would only tune via computer and had some questionable past experiences.

I was upset that they have not released a tuner for the twins but then again if it is not going to be profitable for them, from a business standpoint, I could respect that

i don't think that this car not being turbocharged from the factory is a big deal, i mean anyone serious about going fast is going to be adding FI, the car is slow as hell without it regardless of what else you do, and some would even buy it while they're still NA, so the market would be there. the problem is that they just waited too long, and there are too many other good options out there.

I tried to convince them of this about 6 months ago. I am glad that they may reconsider. The guys at Cobb Plano have built up a WRX, Evo X and the wifes Forester for me. They are great to work with and do quality work. I have owned 5 different AccessPorts. They are the most consistently/easiest mod to do and they make changing maps and/or loading tunes and logging so very easy. That being said, Cobb has made it clear in the past that they prefer to only support cars that come from the factory with FI. However, if there was ever a car to change that rule for....it would be the twins.

Lets hope.

Yep. They decided to shun us from the start, and I have no reason to support them making anything now. If it ain't turbo and they can't show 50 hp gains with their off the shelf maps and handheld tuners, then they don't think there is a market share for it. At this point there is definitely not going to be one with the OpenFlash out already and true Open Source tuning just becoming available. Cobb missed out on their chance with this car, their loss is other's gain.

LOL @ "Missing the boat"

There are plenty of owners still looking for a tune and there will be plenty of future buyers who've waited for Toyota to fix the first gen kinks. I'm would definitely buy a CA if it came out

yes, but all of those customers have cheaper, arguably better options.

The shop in Plano is great everyone there is very nice.... (I had them configure my alignment after some heavy suspension modifications I will go back to them with no hesitation!)
