Why has Cobb abandoned the BRZ?

They are not going to develop the Cobb AP since it won't yield enough power for anything with small liter displacement and NA. They probably feel that hp per dollar that you spend on their AP unit won't attract that many buyers.

Suspension wise, they probably should look into that. But they are doing more than enough sales for just the Subaru turbo cars, there is no need for them to create more work.

Honestly, I would skip the Cobb AP anyways because they are off the shelf and tuned very conservatively. You are better off getting a tune from one of our vendors or a good tuner/dyno shop. They will get the most out of the car and adjust to your needs.

i don't think you understand the nature of the cobb ap. you buy it as the tuning tool and you go to the tuner that has the cobb protuner software and is certified in it. he then creates a tune with it, flashes it on your car and puts the map on the ap.
the cobb ap is 3x better than ecutek in terms of user ability. both have lots of features.
you probably know this as you have a spec b!

cobb won't support the car as much, since it's not turbo. the R&D probably won't yield the results they want. i asked if they would support the hyundai gen coupe and told me it'll cost too much for the benefit.

I do have an AP for my SpecB, and I do admit that the user interface is very straight forward. It does pack a lot of features for the price. I was going to go open source and ditch the AP, but decided to keep it as I was deciding to have the tuned for E85, and the AP would allow me to switch maps more easily. I only got around to finishing an E-Tune on 93 octane.

Here is how I see it with price breakdown.

Ecutek + License + E-Tune is going to run ~$800 and up.
Ecutek + License + Dyno Tuned ~$1100 and up figuring a shop is going to charge around $500 for the dyno time.

Cobb AP usually runs around $600 and comes with a standard tune for stage 1 and 2.

All kinda different in terms of what is being offered and for different price points. Cobb would essentially be slotted on the lower priced end which would appeal to some. Perhaps there might be a market for them. You have to figure that Subaru is going to be using this motor across some of there platforms.
