I love my TRD intake. I've run both a drop in and the TRD and prefer it by far.

So it runs a lot better then just the drop in?
Only downside is its $400 and you can only use that filter so gotta take care of it

Its all personal preference. 400 dollars for the TRD CAI isnt worth it for what it does. A drop in filter does 5-6 whp and with a silicone intake tube it should bump it another 1 whp based on the dyno's drift office did with the drop in filters/zeta intake pipes n filter.

Your better off just getting a K&N drop in filter, Silicone intake tube and a intake duct. The OEM system is already well designed so theres no need to change anything that already works well. Just improve the things that are limiting it like the intake tube and duct.

An Intake tube/duct/drop in filter should cost around 350~ dollars and it will definitely out perform a TRD intake. Lots of intake ducts have been dyno'd and all perform just as well as any CAI and its all positive gains. Unlike some intakes theyll lose power here n there compared to the stock dyno's. This route is cheaper, better and keeps warranty also. You will get throttle response from the extra air the intake duct lets in and the drop in filter/silicone tube both will increase whp, acceleration and throttle response also.

Amazon has the Mishimoto silicon intake tube on sale for $125 (regular ~$250). I bought the one with sound generator delete.

I ordered mine from K&N website which was fine until UPS delivered it to my door ( Ottawa ) and I had to pay a brokerage fee of $18.00 on top. Try to get it shipped USPS as there is no brokerage fee. Canadian tire wanted $60+

So you're looking for improved acceleration but NOT HP gains? You kinda need one to get the other, unless you're going to cut weight somewhere.
Just get a drop in and call it a day. You won't feel any difference(except in your head), but you can clean it at least...

If so K&N.

If not my vote is TRD intake. Cleans engine bay up real nice, keeps warranty, carb approved, and easy to install. You can get the TRD intake for less than $365 too.

I have both the TRD intake and the TRD exhaust and they sound really good together, with almost instant throttle response (much, much better than stock).
If money is an issue, I'd still say stick with TRD and just get the TRD filter for the stock intake instead of the K&N filter.
