TRD intake or K&N drop in ?

Any quick opinions on either replacing the stock air box with the TRD intake or just dropping in a K&N?
not looking for any hp gains or whatever
Just looking at improving acceleration, throttle, response , smoother driving etc.
I already have the TRD exhaust and I want to keep my extended warranty

K&N Filter

I have the K&N Filter, gets rid of the idle issue and sounds much better than stock.

Go for just the filter. TRD CAI isn't worth it. Too costly and unnecessary

For some of us, the engine idle has a tendency to dip a little as if it wants to stall when starting the car and sitting at traffic lights. The K&N filter got rid of that issue for me.

Also, the TRD is $400. If you were actually considering to buy the TRD I would stop you and say buy the Vishnu Tablet tune for $500 instead. Yeah you are paying a little more, BUT you will get the "improving acceleration, throttle, response , smoother driving etc." you're looking for. Plus you can load up to 3 maps to play around with and you can always go back to stock. You will also not break warranty, which is a plus.

K&N seemed to smooth out the engine a bit. After removing sound generator and replacing intake tubing with the Mishimoto silicon intake tube, the butt dyno feels like it is faster. Could be my imagination.

K&N as well for me. No mileage drop and have had it for quite a while. Noticeable gains for me on the butt dyno. Highly recommend considering it's sub $40.

Strange that this thread just opened cause I installed a K&N filter along with the Perrin silicone intake pipe this weekend. Wanted to get rid of the sound generator and clear out the needless junk. Robicooler is going in on Thursday along with Perrin radiator hoses.

I was literally shocked at how much smoother the car idles and it also eliminates the bog you feel in first gear as the clutch is disengaged. It was so pronounced that I thought I was imagining things until I read this thread.

Interesting. I have the Perrin inlet tube (blue) with stock filter, and don't notice any difference. I still get the RPM idle dip, as well as the bog you are mentioning. Do you think if I buy an aftermarket filter THEN I will notice the difference?
