My car is made in 07/13. So it should not have this problem, right? All these issues made me really concerned.

How do you get the date of the car ?? Then I will check mine and let you know. I know how you feel about all these problems. I feel like getting rid of my FRS.

There's a tag in the door. Pretty standard for most cars built in the last 40+ years.

So is SU00302457 the old switch? Because they agreed to change my switch and that's the P/N for the new switch that arrived.

Also I was skimming through this thread and didn't see anything on a Toyota TSB. I printed off the Subaru one though, in case I end up with a disagreement at the dealership.

*Edit* Just talked to a guy at the parts department of my local dealer. He did find the part number you listed, informed me there is a TSB, though I forgot to ask for a TSB number, and ordered the new part for me.

Thanks

The part has since been updated, again, with the new TSB that includes replacement rollers and belt molding pieces.

S-SB-0001-14 : Window Freezing, Losing Initialization

That one?

Just talked to the service manager again, and he said they have to inspect the car to verify it qualifies for the TSB. Sounds like a bunch of bs to me, especially considering this TSB is weather dependent. If the parts are faulty enough to warrant a TSB, then I feel they should replace them at the customer's request.

Yes, that one.

Technically, we have to verify the condition is present before we can perform a TSB - they are for specific condition as listed. We then also must double check that it happens, and it falls within the vin range applicable. A TSB is not a recall, and vice versa. Issues in TSB's don't occur in every vehicle within the VIN range.

TSB's are not carte blanche for a dealer to just throw parts at a car. If the tech just follows the TSB blindly without properly diagnosing the issue, rolls the car out of the dealer, and you return a few days, weeks or months later with a similar/the same issue, Toyota may either charge the dealership back for the failed repair (this TSB costs about $900 or so depending on the dealer's warranty labor rate) and/or bounce the claim for the second/repeat repair. Some smaller dealers or dealers with higher than usual warranty numbers can be hesitant to do much warranty work.

The parts themselves are not faulty. They are not defective - your windows actually work as designed, and they shut down when they freeze so they don't burn out the motors, rip apart the weatherstrips, etc. The new parts are updated so it happens less often.

Your best bet is to call another dealer, tell them that this issue is happening and you know of the TSB and want to schedule an appointment.

The issue did occur in my vehicle, but under certain weather conditions. Do they plan to put my car in an environmental chamber over night?

I got my car in for this. I was told it was an easy repair. ....3 days later.....

It was their first try at this. Turns out they had to make a tool to get at a certain bolt. But now I am noticing a lot of wind noise from the windows. Anyone else run into this?
