APR GT Bumper

The area around the front light housings where my shop cut was to try to get the factory black bezels mounted to hide the ugly gap left behind after the light housing was mounted.

Significant trimming was required around the headlight areas.

There was no hole for the tow hook. Only an outline. LOL. When the hole was cut to allow access to the tow hook, it was obvious the outline is off center.

There are no pin holes in the emblem area to mount the emblem.

There are no provisions for side markers! Unlike what is depicted on their Facebook page.

Would you put this on your car??

Alright guys. @tech4pdx was so disappointed in the product that he gave it to me for free to try and see if I can get it up to snuff.

I'll be honest here, it's pretty bad. It has a horrible finish on it with some minor cracks in the gel coat. I figure I will have to put about 12-15 hours of my time into it to bring it to an acceptable level. It's really odd in that it doesn't even have the cutouts for the side markers which I may or may not add. I'm not a body guy but have experience with fiberglass and bond from my days as a professional car audio installer.

I started this thread so obviously this was a product I wanted for my car. I'm in the middle of building a dedicated track vehicle so the shift from form>function to function>form has begun. I won't be looking for absolute perfection with this part but rather a "good enough for plastidip" finish. In it's current form the body lines need to be defined better and the finish has cracking and runs in the gel coating. PRE Racing was working on this for the previous owner and have cut a few holes to match up the factory bezels and tow hook so we'll see if those need to be fixed.

I'll post in this thread the process so you can make the decisions for yourselves wether you want to take this on or not.

And thanks @tech4pdx. My wife will officially hate you for the next month while I try and resurrect this bumper from the depths of hell.

Damn this sucks to hear about the bumper, I have heard that their bumpers for evo's were like this too and they didnt offer refund, guess some things never change.

APR GT Bumper

Definitely not up to par with their carbon fiber parts which are flawless.

So I spent some time looking things over and cleaning it up to see what really needs to happen. Tomorrow night I'll test fit it on the car and see how the panel joints line up.

Going to need a lot of sanding due to the gel coat finish being uneven and then fill in some minor cracking of the gel coat in spots. Also going to need to fill in the holes that were created by PRE in an attempt to get the factory bezels to line up. Should be a fun project. It will turn out good, I'm sure of it.

And I also bought the brake ducts and backing plates. These look amazing. I'm a sucker for dry carbon. To bad these will be buried behind the rotors.

I test fit the bumper on the car tonight. The parking light area will need some work and lots of sanding on the whole bumper to get it paint ready but the overall fit will only require some minor trimming around the headlights to get it to seat perfectly.

No.. They can't censor jack shit for sending a mediocre product. I cleaned out all my photos while I was fiddling with the profile settings on the forum.
