Weird. I would have thought it is just data and the provider wouldn't know if the data was via hotspot or usual use unless they have some lockdown on you phone of the hotspot feature.

Bit of a problem here....

I put the files on the SD card. Held the menu and volume nob said everything was successfully updated

But it wants me to touchscreen calibration but it is not recognising my finger.

HELP I so hope I haven't bricked this thing.....

Mine asked to calibrate but I didn't bother. Can you get past it? Maybe just press next or menu. You can always run the root again. Should be fine. Perhaps @GreenPants has a suggestion.

Really like this option, debating between this and a nexus 7. I already have a nexus 7 rooted and running torque, just trying to decide if i want to mod dash and permanently mount it, then do all that is associated with that, or just get one of these. I really like that these have knobs...i know silly, but i like being able to change things by touch and not have to look at the screen.

The T7019a has a capacitive touch screen. You may have skipped this bit:

Quote:
If you have a capacitive version of the unit, use the u-boot-skip.bin.capacitive and rename it without the ".capacitive".

I think i have figured it out the file i downloaded had the
u-boot-skip.bin.capacitive file AND a u-boot-skip.bin file i tried to just remove the "capacitive" part but it wouldn't let me since there was already a file with that name so I left a full stop at the end. That still didn't work so i got rid of it all together.

It did its reboot all fine but this time it didn't ask me to calibrate the screen. When it loaded it was just a very basic layout with no extra programs installed like it did when i got it out of the box.

How do I tell if i have done this right.
I have got torque installed (cant test it yet don't have my OBDII reader)

Check if you have the android super user icon in the apps. You may also want to do the root with the new files @GreenPants loaded rather than the originals as he did some stuff to make other apps work such as race chrono.
@GreenPants should be able to link to his post. If I have time I'll find it for you.
