2 questions for some of you that have this unit installed already.

1: I have the USB adapter plugged into the new unit from the stock USB cable for the stock USB port but the unit still doesn't recognize my iPhone. I also tried plugging the iPhone into the front USB port in the bottom left and still nothing. it just says "disconnect" and closes the iPod app on the unit when I plug it in and click it. could I have wired it wrong some how?

2: for the cable on the headunit labeled "illumination" what do I connect that too on the metra wiring harness?

As you have a wiring harness I assume you have the TUN21 rather than the T7019A.

The T7019A has an iPod connector than plugs into the lead coming from where all the RCA plugs are. Does the TUN21 not have a specific iPod lead, I thought it did so you would use that rather than a USB connection.

it does have a specific iPod lead but it is for the old iPods which kind of sucks since I have an iPhone 5. also I just like the convenience of the stock USB port and don't want to have to run anything through the glove box

Not sure if this will be helpful, but I've had no issues using it via the ipod lead + apple 30pin to Lightning adapter

@jx86 if i cant figure out a way to get the ipod recognized through the stock one ill try that. thanks

@jx86 well i was forced to try the adapter, and unfortunately it still refuses to recognize my phone out of the direct ipod line. i am wondering if it is because of the firmware on my phone? I am running 6.1.4 and we tried my girlfriend who has 7.0.1 and it wouldnt recognize either. are you using a different os on your phone? thats the only reason i can think of that it wouldnt be working. it does recognize my old school ipod mini when plugged in though.

Simply use personal hotspot on your iPhone. Make sure no spaces or symbols in the name you use for your phone and select a password.

Then, on the head unit turn wifi on and select your phone as the wifi network to join.

Done!

hmm I hate AT&T and they say I have to pay extra for a hotspot so it looks like I'll just have to jailbreak it to get Internet on the headunit
